Hello all,

Is anyone heading to the 40k Throne of Skulls this weekend at Warhammer World? I'm going along, my usual gaming buddy has dropped out, so was wondering if anyone would like a casual game on Friday evening before the tournament starts?

In addition, how do you think 6th ed will have changed the tournament meta - will we be seeing loads of flyers fortifications and allies?

I'm going, so I'll see you there, but I don't live too far away so I doubt I'll be there on the Friday.

In terms of meta, I think that there will be quite a lot of flyers around, but I doubt it will have hit the peak of flyer-mania yet, as it was only officially announced that it would be in 6th ed a week ago. I think there will be a few allies around as well, I think the Epidemius list will be seen poking around on at least one occasion.

However, I built a list specifically for the tournament and bought everything before the 6th ed rules were released, so I don't boast any fortifications, allies or flyers, and I'm sure that I'm not alone in this.

I do think that the Aegis defence line will be quite prominant though as it's not the most expensive piece of scenery in points or money terms and it gives you some access to skyfire, although not much it gives you a little at least.

It's my first (proper) tournament too, will be measuring my success in pints of Bugman's more than on the score sheet I feel. I have a bunch of green and black painted dark eldar, with a couple of razorwings. Come and say hello!

On a related note, is there any more information about the final Throne of Skulls? Or is this somehow it?

I've been trying to get an idea of location, cost, dates and how to enter through the GW website but I can't get anywhere with that.

I'm not sure about the Throne of Skulls in the USA, as this is the British Throne of Skulls, which definately hasn't been discontinued.

This article ( http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?categoryId=300002&aId=14700053 ) that at least it still exists through the end of the year. I'm just very confused.

It was indeed. There were a lot of Necrons floating around, same goes for IG and surprisingly Vanilla Marines. The Orks weren't mine unfortunately, I brought my Space Wolves to try and get more of a feel for the army.

Didn't go this time but will be going in November. Interested to know how they dealt with all the new rules. What was the set up - was there a new rules pack?

The setup for each mission was the same but with the new missions. As in, rolling for deployment and mission, meaning that with the 6 missions we didn't roll up 'The Emperor's Will' at all. There wasn't a new rules pack but we did use 6th ed rules, and I believe that ToS was also used as a bit of a testbed to find questions that needed FAQing so that they can be addressed.

I doubt I'll be going in November, but next time I can go I will definately take the opportunity.
