Who here would invest in a zombie apocalypse simulation with robotic or actors zombies that hunt a group of customers who are armed with paintball guns with red paint and have to complete a series of objectives and during which a whole story is unfolded, basically left 4 dead, dead island, or any other zombie video game mixed with L.A.R.P.ing in a real life game with a story?

Don't you have this already in the States? There are quite a few places in the UK that do it.

It has been run in Reading fairly recently. I think it was a one off but if successful they might repeat it.

I think they need actors mate, robotic zombies sounds a bit beyond our current technical ability unless you live in the Marvel Universe.

First use airsoft, paintball means its slower to cycle the zombies and you have cleanup costs. You cant recycle the ammo either. Airsoft pellets are swept up with the trash and placed through a filter, this recovered the airsoft balls.
Keep it cheap and you keep it realistic. The only technical effects you may need is a sound and light show played on cue,. Perhaps the sounds and lights of another team being overrun, adds atmosphere and tension. Making reaching the second team a mission, that cannot be won, when you reach the other teams position you face only more zombies. This speeds up the hopelessness of the odds that is ingrained the the genre yet missing on day out zombie shoots.

You'd think just doing it in a virtual Reality setup would be easier. All those robots sounds expensive to make and maintain.

One of the airsoft sites I've played at run a zombie game every so often. I've never actually been to one, but I plan on doing it one day. Very limited amount of ammo and only a small team of survivors. At night. It's supposed to be fething awesome
The survivors team is always fully booked within hours though.
On the plus side, you get to play for free if you play as a zombie On the minus side, you WILL get shot, and have no way of shooting back.

So let me get this straight, I can go somewhere in the UK and shoot Larpers with impunity.
I'm guessing these Zombies might flinch abit if you hit then in the tallywhackers as well!
Where do I sign up?

Trust me, getting hit in the tallywhackers with an airsoft bb is not a pleasant experience, although unfortunately it has happened to me so much I'm somewhat of an expert on the subject
The company I know that does them is First and Only Airsoft. They own and run dozens of sites around the country, but I've only been to one. (Anzio camp for those interested, a pretty good site ) I normally play elsewhere though so I don't know when/where their next zombie event is.
And you would have to be damned quick to get on the survivors team, it fills up pretty fast
