Hello all,

As far as I can tell from the small captions under images in the Tau Codex, the sept colors are really just the sept stripes or markings that appear on their helmet, shoulder, gun, etc..., not the color of the uniforms themselves. Is this an accurate reading, or have I misinterpreted some of the background here?

Thanks!

You are right.

In principle you are right, but all Septs usually have a distinct uniform colour as well. But that colour might be changed due to camouflage necessities (like Sa'cea blue/grey for cityfights or Tau'n ochre for deserts).

Yerp, that's pretty much it. So if Sa'cea forces were fighting in a desert they'd pretty much use the tau scheme except for their markings.

well sept coulors are like the flag in shoulder in real life soldiers

camouflage colour/patters are for fight , not for show ( like SM ),exept of the T'au camoflage that is the "formal" uniform
