Would the Deathwatch be willing to ally themselves with Xenos if the situation required it?

Example 1. Consider a Tyranid invasion. Would the Deathwatch ally themselves with Eldar to defeat them?
Example 2. How about a Chaos incursion?

If you're asking a question like that then you're missing the point of the Deathwatch completely.

But in the context of a Tyranid/Chaos incursion, then you're definitely bringing up a grey area that's worth considering. I doubt it's likely to happen though, because Deathwatch operates as elite kill-teams, and usually only just the one. They dont operate in full companies like usual Astartes Chapters, and allying with other factions, especially Xenos, would most likely undermine their ability to conduct special operations. They might use xenos tech if the situation warrants it though. But yeah, most likely scenario: They operate as a single kill-team, drop-podding into the midst of a xeno incursion and going for the throat, and withdrawing before enemy forces can bear their numbers on them.

In GW's world, it would depend on the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor in command of the operation. The Deathwatch isn't an autonomous force in studio fluff.

Don't the DW team up with Eldar in one of the books?

Yes, and that book will never be brought up again That was a tough read when I was 12, I really need to try it again...

But I could imagine a kill-team using a force of xenos to wipe out another if the captain was savvy enough

That said, I wouldn't completely exclude it either. To me, it'd just seem extremely unlikely and thus depend very much on the circumstances, like - what kind of alien, how do they approach one another, is the reason for cooperation important enough to override a Marine's inherent xeno-hate.
I still think the easiest solution would be a somewhat more "liberal" Inquisitor who orders his DW team to stand down, tho, which they grudgingly do, allowing the story to progress.

Honestly it's situational, if they came on planet to assassinate Tau leadership and a Tyranid invasion occurred then they would team up with the Tau, well until the nids were dead or they were, then they would turn and slaughter the Tau leadership.
Hope that helps.

That particular novel was written by C.S. "Multilaser" Goto, take that as you will.

Having said that, the Imperium has allied with some of the more amiable xenos races from time to time, but never with chaos.

Based on the information in the FFG Deathwatch RPG books, Deathwatch as a whole and Kill-Teams in particular would have no problems allying with a human-like enemy against a bigger threat. Eldar and Tau spring to mind - even though the Deathwatch fights against them, alliances of convenience are possible between the Deathwatch and one of those factions. The policy of the Deathwatch IS discussed at a higher level - I'm guessing the regional policy is set up by the Commander of the Watch Fortress responsible for that particular region.

It all comes down to personalities, though - if the Watch Commander is a thickheaded Xeno-hater, he'd never consider an alliance with the Tau.

Deathwatch is not only about killing Xenos but also about learning as much as possible about them.
