Dear Dakka,
This is a story that I wrote, well duh, but is my hand at trying for a vivid story. The writing style was inspired by Dan Abnett, but mine probably does not compare at all to his way. Please comment and all that, so I can see how I did.
Thank You,
DaK
Green is Death’s Favourite Colour
By Da Kommizzar

Private Konrad woke with a start. It was not sounds of thundering guns or screaming men that startled him, it was the absence of the both. As Konrad looked out the window he saw large chunks of the ship floating out into space with men, his comrades, not far behind. Between his life and the vacuum was his air locked door. Konrad’s eyes dart from left to right desperately trying to find the source of the explosion, he spots his answer with horror. Crudely built ships that appeared to be cobbled together out of scrap were screaming around the the planet that he and the station’s crew were supposed to protect. The Orks have arrived.
- - -
“Al roit ye zoggin gitz, it be about time dat we showed em umiez what itz like to face da Orkz!” Red-Snikka yelled over the booming guns with curses and spits.

His bellow was quickly brought up with great whoops and howls by his comrades. The stench of the place of the like of a diseased Grox languishing in its own dung, though the orks did not notice, it smelled like home.
“Grubz and Killa, you got dem bigbommz?”
Killa’s lips revealed a maw of great ivory teeth that would make any Bad Moon jealous.
“Ye boss, perfect fer krumping dem kontrul roomz”

Red-snikka turned the to rest of the warriors, “Kay boyz, da moment dat we break through the puny laser fire of da oomans, we will board and kill em all. Load yer shootas and prepare yer choppas cuz last git out is a stinking grot, Waaagh!”

His cheer was taken up once more as the ork warriors pounded the ground with their long green brutish arms.

A great churn of metal and the sound of a squiggoth falling down a flight of stairs and the assault pods rocketed off into the laser patterns of the human defense matrix. The sudden movement made Gorebag drop his slugga which with great amusement took a few inches off of the top of Banga’s head. Clutching his head Banga turned and with a great meaty fist gave Gorebag a teaching in amusement. Red-Snikka loosed a few shots that bounced off the hull of the pod to stop the commotion, after all he needs every boy he can get to assault the installation.

- - -
“Sir, Orkoid craft reported to be breaching our defence patterns!”
Just out of officer training, young Miles Harker, best in his class, a keen eye and a knack for perceiving orders knew just what to do before the commander even thought of issuing a command. The commander smirked, creasing the great scar across his two lips.
“Shall I call for a repelling party, Sir?”
Commander Ibrak just nodded and the junior officer went off quick as he came. Before he knew it, the red emergency lights were flashing and armed personnel were running back and forth to guard each airlock.
- - -
The great hulking orks piled with slabs of strong sinew all prepared for boarding, shoving each other out of the way and anticipating the bloodshed to come. The oily red light flashed green as the boarding ramp blew off and the orkz all moved as one great tide of green. There was no hope for the Imperial Guardsmen that were stationed right outside the newly made entrance. They were only allowed one volley of las-fire before they were set upon by great toothy maws and crude chainaxes. The orks looted as they went scavenging off of dead bodies before opening up their shootas into any resistance. The sounds of their guns could be heard from across the ship like great claps of thunder on full-auto. Solid slugs ricocheted off of walls and put holes in others. Trooper Brillian should not have stepped outside after his sleep period, for as soon as he did, he was turned to and hacked to pieces by great burly axes. Sergeant Ox tried to rally his men, but before he could motion for a regroup he was riveted with holes the size of bowling balls.
- - -
"Commander!"
Miles Harker burst into the command bridge as he fired las rounds into the hallway behind him followed by a detonation grenade.
"We are being overran by the barbaric ork forces!", "All personnel are scrambled and being cut down by the unpredictable green menace, what shall we do!"
The great banging on the blast doors and the screams of his men did not reach his ears as he surveyed the once command deck. His eyes were bloodshot with horror as he saw what was left of the bridge crew. He regretted his outburst of noise as quickly as he said it, for out of the shadows jumped great masked orks that were probably the ones that slaughtered the bridge crew. Miles only had a few rounds worth of energy in his laspistol, which were quickly spent into the orks. One, two, three were dropped and in his valiant defense managed a third before the whirring of a chainblade was the last thing he heard before his end.
- - -
The explosions of the defense blockade looked like great big fireworks that awed those on the planet below. That amazement quickly turned to horror as great oily trails of shrapnel fell and pummeled the great hive cities below. High-Chancellor Gaussian's first thought was:
This is the beginning of the end.

My general rule is that in my paranoia I don't download anything on DakkaDakka.

I would suggest copying it, pasting it into a post and then posting it so that more people (myself included) will read it.
