I'm fairly new to the forums, but i want to make myself known in a way that means people will remember me.
I've browsed through some of the stuff people have written, and it looks really impressive.
So, if i'm going to leave my mark, i might as well do it by starting with my own sector, this is where most of my fiction will be set. It will have, for the most part, it's own unique characters and it's own background and settings.
Please feed back to me your thoughts and opinions on this, but don't be too brutal, it is my first thread, after all...:

The Jurdani Sector: Overview

"From the reports gathered at Segmentum Command, we have established the Jurdani Sector as a troubled little cluster of worlds. Until recently these worlds were quiet, habitable backwater planets that held no interest to the Inquisition at all, but, as with all things in war, the Sector didn't stay peaceful for long...
The Sector's capital and namesake, Jurdani, has proven a valuable source of fuel, with it's deep veins of usable fuel, the Imperium set up rigs in the planet's southern seas to harvest the viscous materials. The drilling, however, caused tectonic tension, and awoke something deep beneath the planet's mantel.
Within a few months of the tectonic disturbance, citizens of Jurdani's capital city reported sightings of 'metal men' rising from the sea. Within twenty-four hours these creatures began an assault on the continent-spanning city of Jurdana, prompting the mobilisation of the local PDF to a full, hive-scale defence protocol. This proved ineffective, and these 'metal men', which the Imperial database has identified as Necrons, soon began to massacre local PDF units.
Inquisitor Benjamin Mordecai, a native of the planet, diverted his attention to evacuating his homeworld, only successful in getting two-thousand fighting men and women off world before being forced to execute an Orbital Bombardment on the planet.
Witness reports state the Inquisitor wept openly on the bridge of his Armageddon Class battlecruiser as Jurdani burned."

"A mere two years after the destruction of Jurdani, the Sector received a sudden flux in xenos and hostile attention, with several Dark Eldar slave raids on the outlying planets, and Tau Mercenaries advertising themselves to the wealthy and powerful in the Sector. Countless cult uprisings on the Sector's new capital of Maras sparked unrest among the people, and shortly after, masses of Chaos Space Marines of the Word Bearers and cultists of the Bronze Fist sect poured through into Maras' capital city of Medrogus and seized the city.
Inquisitor Benjamin Mordecai has mounted a seige to break the Chaos occupation, with his Jurdani Elite forces, and elements of the armoured Cadian 55th.
If the situation cannot be contained, the Inquisition will mount a full-scale crusade of cleansing to purge the Sector of the plague that ails it."

The Jurdani Sector: Planets

Jurdani
Formerly the Sector's capital, Jurdani was an ocean world featuring only one, continent-spanning city called Jurdana, after the Rogue Trader who first colonised it and the sector.
Jurdani featured mainly in the drilling, mining and selling of ore and oil, taken from below the surface of the planet's southern seas.
When tectonic activity caused by the drilling awakened a tomb of Necrons, the planet was evacuated and it's PDF left to their fate. Merely two thousand fighting men and women were evacuated before the planet was sentenced to exterminatus.
The remaining men and women were formed into the Jurdani Elites, under the command of Inquisitor Benjamin Mordecai, who has now taken martial control of the sector.
Jurdani remains a dead world, and high radiation levels and continuous tectonic activity make it too dangerous for even Astartes to venture to the planet's surface.

Maras
The new capital of the Sector, Maras is a barren ice world, with only a few major settlements and hives located in the planet's northern hemisphere.
The planetary capital is Medrogus, the seat of government and also a high producer of tank chassis and munitions.
Though Maras is classed as a stable world, there have been several reports of cultist uprisings in Medrogus and some of the smaller surrounding setlements, and reports of Tau and Eldar Mercenaries continue to plague the writing desks of the Inquisition.

Carriadus Mortis
Primarily a barren desert world, Carriadus Mortis' only redeeming feature is the large quantities of Adamantite beneath the planet's crust.
To this end, the planet's inhabitants consist of several small mining communities overseen by detachments of local Guardsmen bred for the task.
Feral Orks roam some of the more secluded areas of the planet, and every so often maraudering groups of greenskins will attack mining settlements, though no coordinated strikes have been recorded thus far.
One of the planet's few landmarks is the husk of an old hive which was the planet's main port of trade before the Horus Heresy.
The remains of the old hive have earned the name Blackrock, and the place has been coined as a cursed place by the locals.
Though there have been no notable conflicts on the planet, myth and rumour still surrounds the dead hive of Blackrock, and it is currently unknown if there is any truth in the drink-banter of the locals.

Varnassus
A lush world of treacherous swamps and beautiful jungles and forests, Varnassus is a mostly primitive world on the sector's border, untouched by civilisation.
Those few inhabitants who have sufficient technology are mostly merchants or politicians with the money and time to create a luxury getaway on a primitive, peaceful planet.
Save for these higher-ups and a few mechanicus sensory arrays, the only indication that any intelligent life existed on the planet are a few ancient structures believed to be of Eldar origin.

Skyreach
A center of industry since before the Horus Heresy, Skyreach is a Forge World responsible for the mass production of Guard-issue weapons and armour.
For the most part, the planet is barren rock dotted with forge-hives and smeltery complexes.
The planet's capital of Galespire is reputed as the birthplace of the late Inquisitor Lucent, mentor of Inquisitor Mordecai and a veteran of the Tyrannid Hive Fleet Eden, which passed through the system twenty years prior to the Jurdani incident. Galespire is also the only place that currently produces the Jurdani Brutal Bow, a specialist weapon utilised by the Jurdani Elites.

Titansfall
A planet with a similar atmosphere to ancient Terra, Titansfall is a mixture of lush forests, sandy deserts, rough oceans and harsh jungles.
The planet hasn't been touched since the Horus Heresy, allowing its wildlife to grow and thrive, undisturbed since the dark days of the Heresy.
The only indication of human society ever existing there are the various corpses of Titans which fell during the Heresy, earning the planet its new name.
Recently, Inquisitor-General Benjamin Mordecai has ordered the construction of an Inquisitorial Fortress, built directly into the side of one of the planet's towering mountains.
