I read on Dakka the other day on a thread about the reincarnation of Horus that psykers, of all races it seems, can reincarnate themselves after they die, however most cannot because they are consumed by daemons in the warp. I have a few questions about this, first of:
1. Is this true?
2. If so, how would they reincarnate themselves, and what would they have to do so they could do that?
and
3. What perils would they face, just run of the mill daemons, ala bloodletters, nurglings etc, or even things like DPs, CSM, and GDs?

thanks!

I may have understood some of the statements on that thread differently. Then, I admit I've not been paying the fluff forum the attention it deserves lately

Don't know if psykers "reincarnate" but, after death, every human soul ends up in the warp where it is claimed or consumed by the entities who dwell there. We actually don't know what the Chaos Gods would have done to their human champion Horus, but obliterating his soul was the Emperor's way to ensure that they had no power over Horus after his death.

I don't know of any instances of reincarnation. Daemons, though, never die unless their "true name" is spoken, physical attacks merely banishing them to the warp. It's quite a lengthy process, but banished daemons can come back from their apparent death once they're strong enough to materialize again.

That said, I don't think it's impossible for a dead human to "come back" in daemon form. Think Doombred, supposedly a tyrant from Earth's distant past now ascended to daemonhood, who still haunts the materium every now and then.

Perils of the Warp?. Mostly, but not limited to, daemons of all shapes and sizes. The fluff hints that there is more to the Warp than the Chaos Gods and their daemons. Not CSMs, though, as they are still beings of flesh and bone.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

1: Yes, they can reincarnate. But this is dependent on how powerful they are, the less powerful the psyker the less likely they will retain their memories. In which case its as if he never reincarnated at all.

2: Who knows, perhaps he simply waits around for a suitable body to form and implants himself before a soul forms for the body.

3: Daemons in general. And of course the more powerful the psyker the tastier and more visable he is, which makes it less likely for him to reincarnate. And the more powerful the psyker, the more powerful the daemon he wil attract.

As for psykers actually managing to reincarnate, its unlikely a psyker not in thrall to Chaos could actually reincarnate as only they might have enough pull to slip by the daemons. And in most cases its probably nom time.

I have another question... (but thanks for answering those, it helped alot!)

When they enter the warp, would they actually go into the different realms of the chaos gods? Or just in the neutral zone type areas?

Edit:

Also, what would the psyker look like? His material realm form, or something else?
