Hey Dakka.
Some of the Legions had more specialised titles when it came to ranking and structure. For example, the White Scars Chapter Masters/Lord Commanders were known as Khans with the Chapters known as Brotherhoods. To be honest I don't actually know of any others but I guess you all get the jist. Well, did the Night Lords have any quirky and unique names for ranking and structure. What would Chapter Masters/Lord Commanders be know as? What would Chapters be known as? If I was to guess I'd possibly think that Chapters would be Talons? or even Claws? As for Chapter Masters/Lord Commanders I don't know, maybe something like Talonmaster? I know that Zso Sahaal, the First Captain prior to Sevatar, was known as the Talonmaster so would this have been a broad term? I also know that Krieg Acerbus was known as the Axemaster so maybe likewise?

From what I've read--
Squads are Claws immediately post-H, I'm not sure about pre-H; Captains were Captains; no reference to chapters, just companies. In general, seems pretty standard.
There were lots of colorful titles, but these were specific and, at least in all the cases I can remember, had nothing to do with rank, but with specialization, prophecy, or personality.

Ah alright then thanks.
Do you suggest calling my squads Claws is still viable for a pre-Heresy/Heresy-era force? Chapters, Companies, it's all the same thing but they are usually generalised as Companies e.g. the only use of Chapter not Company I've read so far is used by Captain Cestus of the Ultramarines '8th Chapter' as he says in Battle for the Abyss (on chapter 7, quite a nice book)
So it's possible for him to have a specific and 'colourful' as you put it, title. I was thinking of nicknaming him the Dark Reaper and Old Night, so any opinions perhaps on the title he could bear?
