The butcher is a solid caster, and not bad in small games, but really shines around 50 points or so. A decent starting list for him is as follows:
Butcher

Juggernaut
Kodiak
Berserker

5 Man-o-war Shocktroopers
5 Demolition corp troopers
Widowmakers

Yuri the Axe
2 Manhunters
Wardog

This is about 50 points, and gives you access to his tier lists, making you army sick-nasty. Happy hunting!!

I have found that pbutcher really shines in the lower points lists where you can bring his own formidable power to bear without eating an alpha strike from 25 points of models. He has good support for up to two squads but behond that you will need units that do not need support. He REALLY shines in infantry swarm lists where you ca maximize his feat's efficiency. High model count squads such as winterguard are very good under him. Full throttle gives the illusion that he is built to run several jacks. However, if you have more than one in his battlegroup, you will not be able to run them to their potential and will ultimately be wasting points. Heck, I usually find myself not being to run a single jack properly. I usually end up camping focus to keep him safe or having him smash stuff instead of the jack... He does hit as hard as a jugg or beast just with better MAT...

Here is something to keep in mind with butcher. He can kill ANYTHING by himself with no outside support, and he can do it pretty easily. He can lay down 6 P+S 19 attacks with 4D6 on each and 5D6 on the charge. To be able to decimate the biggestthreat reliably in a low point cost game is a great thing to have at your disposal.

I think this army is very solid as a "theme" (not list, but like actual theme), but its only so-so play wise due to the jack choices and 3 manhunters (yuri is one). The list has massive issues vs anything high defense (15+) and pretty much can't handle a single infantry unit at this defense without getting somewhat lucky. Also the as stated above higher model count units (kazazy, IFP, WG, or Nyss) are considerably better with butcher due to his feat/fury. Yes if you cycle fury you could get both the Man-o-war units with it in a turn, but thats 10 men who could(in the best case) get off 15 attacks. In reality you would be lucky to get even 10 attacks off due to their speed/positioning so a SINGLE UNIT of either the IFP or kazazy could get the same amount(or more attacks) at almost the same power, more accurate(for the kazazy) and further range and for half the "points cost".

I honestly would never recommend this list to anyone "starting" khador due to the sheer niche role of the majority of the list (widowmakers and the wardog are the only units that you could easily throw in any other list).

Models worth buying for starting khador:

Caster: Anything but zerkova starting

Jack 1: Choose 1 of the following: Beast 09 or Spriggan

Jack 2: Choose 1 of the following that wasn't chose above: Beast 09, Spriggan, Drago or Devastator

Infantry 1: Choose one of the following with UA at full: winterguard, kayazy, IFP

Solos/Support 1: If you got winterguard above buy kovnik joe and 3 winterguard rocketeer weapon attachments

Solos/Support 2: Look at the remaining points based on your choices above then choose from: Great Bears, Widowmakers, mortar crew, keil baloch(mercenary), or wardog to round out your points to specified amount (35 pts max).

If you use a quick guide like above, you will buy only "general" purpose models that can plug n' play rather easily and you will almost certainly use at some point if you continue down the faction road or switch casters.

^^^Agree, except that manhunters can find their way into almost any list. They need zero support, and can mutilate a ton of key models. When would a khador player not need guided missles at their disposal?

Personally, I would grab one big jack (beast or sprig or jugg) since most of the time, you are better off just running a single expensive heavy anyways.

I would start with pButcher or pIrusk or pSorscha. I think they are the simplest to play and the most forgiving for new players.

^^^^^^^^^I 100% agree that most Khador lists use 1 jack, but for starting I think getting 2 makes it easier to start and with what I said you get variety of 1 strong melee(beast/sprig) then another solid additional jack. I think manhunters are OK(esp with Vlad2), but for starting I would just avoid them and get Keil Baloch(who will almost always make his points back or more vs a manhunter and adds a ranged element to generally melee based armies). I also think p Butch or Sorch are the simplest, but if you don't like the look of the models eh...all the other casters(besides zerkova) are decent enough(in terms of even if they only spend focus to jacks and feat) that you don't need to limit yourself.

with full throttle, if youre not running at least 2 jacks, youre doing it wrong, because youre spending a lot of focus to charge for free. the juggernaut is cheap and ridiculous on feat turn. The kodiak and berserker are focus efficient. the kodiak is a great toolbox jack and both have chain attacks, maximising their use on feat turn. in this list, the man o wars are faster on turn one, so they get there quicker, and theyre a little bit cheaper. The kayazy are good, but honestly they are harder to run for players just starting out (positioning is a bitch if youre just starting the game. IFPs are a little faster than manowars, but this list isnt about speed (except for the manhunters). Its about advancing an impenetrable wall and then wrecking whatever is stupid enough not to run away. It works against troop-spam because they get mauled by manhunters and yuri and the widowmakers. it works against jack-spam (3 jacks plus demo core and the manowars are no slouch either with their axes on a charge) it works against shooting lists like those brought by cygnar (have fun hitting arm 21 heavy troops and defense 16+ light troops and solos (assuming iron flesh ann/or cover/elevation. it is also physically cheaper that a lot of lists out there. berserkers are cheap. kodiaks are cheap. manowars and juggernaut can be bought for like $15 for full unit/ the jack on amazon because theyre in the starter box. the most expensive thing on here is the democore, which go for about 45. its definitely a good start for beginning players.

Board control armies will tear this list a new one (Rahn, Circle, epic Denny). It's slow and pButch can't speed it up outside the bonus 1st turn movement for the MoW's.

You actually have to run at least 3 jacks to make full throttle worth using. At he point cost of our jacks, that means you are missing out on at least 12 points of infantry that will be more effective than those two jacks. Problem being that butcher has better things to do with his focus like casting iron flesh or smashing faces himself. You really do not want to upkeep iron flesh usually as the spd debuff hinders units considerably.

Butcher just works better with more infantry. You get alot more out of his feat with big units of infantry that those two extra jacks that you will never be to buy attacks for

Also, manhunters are wasted on all but the heaviest infantry. They excell at light jacks, tough solos and warcasters especially. Heck, even legion and circle heavy beasts need to worry about them. They hit hard enough and often enough to threaten those softer heavies, im looking at you warpwolf stalker.

again, this list covers the basic principles of:
1. fun,
2. easy to use
3. cheap
4. good for beginners

infantrymachine is expensive (monetarily) as hell, and not rewarding if your opponent just shoots your army to pieces, which is what usually happens against khador infantry, since we have exactly two units that can reliably hit at a distance. There maybe be better, more infantry-centric lists for butcher, and there are better jack casters than butcher, but see the original goal of the list.
