If you are looking at this then you are here to see what resources are available to you to learn and improve and just figure out Firestorm Armada. Have no fear; contained within is all that I have compiled since I too had taken my first steps into the void.

I run the Black Ocean a resource site for Firestorm Armada. Please visit our site and take a moment to like us on Facebook. Below are some helpful documents for new players that are on our site:

Fleet Guide for New Players from The Black Ocean. This document contains a quick overview of how the Core fleets play in Firestorm Armada.

The Combined Ship Stat Cards - This is all of the currently released ships with their stats and Model Assigned Rules.

Fleet Construction - Alliance of Kurak - This is a compilation of all the rules from the various Spartan releases that you need to know to assemble a fleet for the Alliance of Kurak side of the conflict

Fleet Construction - Zenian League - This is a compilation of all the rules from the various Spartan releases that you need to know to assemble a fleet for the Zenian League side of the conflict

Fleet Construction - Marauders- This is a compilation of all the rules from the various Spartan releases that you need to know to assemble a Marauder Fleet

Look at our Fleet Recognition page if you would like to see all the currently released models

We have made Army Builder for Firestorm Armada. If you are unfamiliar with Army Builder it is a program that helps make fleet lists. It contains every rule necessary to make a fleet and is a great tool to learn what combinations of ships you can field. The program is made by Lone Wolf Development and the actual data files were made by the Black Ocean and Alexmann. You can get our data files after you purchase Army Builder by clicking the update file from within the program.

Note that these are updated as soon as information is available.

Firebase Delta does podcasts for Firestorm, frequently teaming up with Chris (a.k.a. veritechc here on the forums) who runs the Black Ocean. I'd like to add that Phil and Scott are veteran podcasters that you just might have heard on 40K Radio. Phil was one of the founders of that podcast. You will not find a finer group of East coast gamers to listen to.

in case useful we have just launched a new product today for firestorm armada http://www.amera.co.uk/product.php?range=u Lunarscape is a well detailed planet base that will enhance your space warfare gaming . Use it as a single base or join them together to form a larger lunarscape. The base is low profile so models can be easily moved across the surface. Simple trimming will produce a desired planet surface shape.
Dimensions: 32cm x 32cm

I know its located on another forum, but here is a cool Player Finder that is growing. It should be a great tool for finding new players as well as retailers that are supporting FSA.

Extremely interested in Firestorm Armada, but the links in the OP are dead.

Is there a way we could get some updated info?

OP's original links are still downloadable via the Wayback Machine, https://web.archive.org/web/20160315034508/http://theblackocean.com/resources/Firestorm/Firestorm%20Armada%20Fleet%20Guide%20for%20New%20Players%20v2.pdf

It may also be of some note that theblackocean domain was available as of 2022, but now appears that WarCradle has purchased it sometime recently. Hopefully that bodes well for some official attention to the ruleset in the relatively near future.

I have been wondering if firestorm armada would make a comeback, I had seen there was a new edition being worked on but hadn't heard anything about a launch

Most likely will not be a re-release either.

Last we heard of it was a beta rules set for V3.0 made by warcradle back in 20, result of it is as far as i know unknown.
Thing is Dystopian Wars was re-released at that time, and warcradle has since then gone all in on that range, further expanding that universe with the recently released Armored Clash, a 10mm game set in the same universe and timeframe as Dystopian Wars. I predict they will have enugh to do with that game for the next 3-4 years. (sadly)

Anyway, for thouse who would like to try the game with proxy models, here are the pdf rules for Armada 2.5 as of december 24. https://blog.warcradle.com/spartan-games-archive#firestorm-armada

And here are the beta rules for Armada 3.0, they have not been changed since they was released in 20. https://www.firestormarmada.com/ (2D printable ship templates can be found further down on that site)

So yea, dead game is dead, do not hope for its return in this decade, warcradle is only fokusing on the fantasy setting.

I think we will see it back, but WC are growing their game library and ranges slowly. Dystopian Wars is doing well and the new land game seems to be doing good*.

I do still expect to see FA return - Dropfleet hasn't grown superfast, though its new edition seems to have a big more fire behind it since they are pushing more plastics into their range. Meanwhile GW hasn't brought BFG back at all.

So there's a big gap in the market for a serious player for a spacegame. FA has a gap and a chance I think its just waiting for Warcradle to have the production slots and space. That said I'm not expecting it for at least another year to a year and a half before we even see any updated teasers or news

*and actually benefited the long wait since the shutdown of Spartan since they changed the scale from the original so time passed made the transition easier

The way I heard it, Warcradle are wary of launching FA right into a looming BFG reboot that could happen at any time (so they launched Armoured Clash into an Epic reboot instead, oops)

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

I think they are just more cautious of over-expanding and growing beyond their means to supply. Afterall that's basically one of the elements that killed Spartan Games - expanding so fast they couldn't support all the games they were running at the same time which led to them hopping between them. Giving one game all the attention and abandoning the others - annoying customers before flipping the attention back and so forth.

So it kind of makes sense that their first expansion is into a franchise and setting that's already popular and selling well. My hope is that with steady continued sales they'll expand and grow a bit more and FA will fly on as well.

I think the other aspect is "getting the armies out". Dystopian Wars has pretty big model ranges now for each faction and whilst there's still room to add LOADS more; the core game has a lot of variety and functional forces to play with. Which means they can ease of a tiny bit and let another game take the bigger release chunks for a while.

If they can compete with Epic reboot they can compete with BFG reboot
