Finally shelved my DE (at least for a while) and went with an army with much better fluff. This is my list to date. Any advice on additions, tactics, or criticisms? HQ Necron Lord (100pts) Total:180pts Warscythe (10pts), Destroyer Body (30pts), Resurrection Orb (40pts) Elites Immortals x6 (6x28pts) Total:168pts Troops Warriors x10 (10x18pts) Total:180pts Warriors x10 (10x18pts) Total:180pts Fast Attack Wraiths x 2 (2x41pts) Total: 82 pts Destroyers x 3 (3x50pts) Total: 150pts Scarab Swarms (5x12pts) Total: 60pts Army Total: 1000pts #of 'Necron' Models: 32 Phase Out #: 8 Oh also, are units like Pariahs worth taking? They're a ton of points, and can't get back up again... even if they can ignroe the enemy's inv. saves.

Pariahs usually get bagged on because they're slow, can't stand back up, and can't teleport around. In a Necron army, there's always something better to spend your points on than them. Otherwise, things look good.

Thanks Bookwrack. I forgot you the models have to be 'necron' models to teleport... makes Pariahs totally out of the question (cause not getting back up isn't so bad if they can wipe the enemy out in the first turn of assault or shooting, assuming they can warp around the table).
And thanks for the approval of the list!

Good point. If you've don't have a teleporting Lord, or Monolith, then the only advantage that Immortals will have over Pariahs is contributing to phase out, and their other special abilities will come in handy (although the lack of WBB is a big drawback). Keep the Lord teamed up with the Wraiths and the Scarabs, and you are going to have a heck of a nasty CC unit, with the Pariahs shooting out to 24", and carving up anything that tries to get too close.
If you can work some more scarabs into there, that'd probably be good too. They're an awesome tarpit unit (I also try and postion them so that they can get units like Devastators into CC first or second turn, so that those nasty heavy weapons can't be brought to bear on my army), and it's convienient to use them to soften up a unit for your Wraiths and Lord.
And hey, Morticon, missed you at the Battle Holiday. You missed quie a fight. I managed to squeeze the Nightbringer and Monolith into a 1500 list vs Blood Angels (which meant no points for a Lord...). Ended up DSing the Monolith into the middle of his army, where the Gauss Flux Arcs kept rolling sixes, and the Nightbringer got into CC with the Death Company, too bad the game was called on time, because it would've been a hell of a race to see whether I could squash him before he took me to phase out.

Hrmm well when I move up to a more than 1k pt list, i will think on Pariahs (though I'd still prefer more warriors, scarabs, a teleporting lord, some mroe immortals and then a bit more haha).
As for a Scarab/Wraith/Lord combo, I was thinking about that. My friend and I have been playing a lot, and he goes for World Eaters, two units of pumped up Khorne Berzerkers, a Lord, and well that's it. If I don't whittle down the non-Lord unit fast enough wtih shooting, they can blow away the entire scarab unit in a single round of combat. But they have trouble taking down a unit of warriors. I was thinking of using a unit of warriors for a trap, then charging with the Scarabs wraiths and Lord into that unit's rear, and the scarab's wounds will give my other guys an entire round without having to worry about casualties!
Hehe and that sounds like a damn fun game Bookwrack, makes me consider the Monolith more (though, modeling it and painting it will be a pain).

Throwing scarabs into HtH with troops that are good at CC is going to get them massacered. They're best at tying up other troops (like I said, I threw it into the devastator squad, where it kept three Missile Launchers and a Lascannon quiet for four rounds;I'll get the battlereport up later today) or just tarpitting a unit for a round or two if you need a sacrifice.
Once you start getting more points, then Pariahs start dropping from favor again. If you've got a Lord, or a Monolith, then the ability to teleport once more makes Immortals an almost unquestionably much better choice than Pariahs. However, if all your guys have to march, the problem of slow Pariahs becomes a non issue.

My friend and I had another game, and I had this full 1k pt. list. He had World Eaters again, with two units of about 8 bloodletters, two squads of Khorne Berserkers, one at sacred # and one a model shy, and a lord. One unit of bloodletters came on, scattered halfway into impassable terrain (our rulebook is currently M.I.A. so we said d3 casualties, he lost 2), and then charged my scarabs who were INTENDED to pull the blood-frenzied units towards them. Shame all the khorne berzerkers started getting blood frenzy after the bloodletters had finished off the scarabs (whom I used as you said, and held them up for 2 turns of the 6, and even managed to kill 1 of his demons). The game ended in a win for me, barely. If he had managed to get one more 'Necron' model, I would have phased out. As it was I controlled 1 quarter, and we had one contested (massive melee). Thanks for the advice again Bookwrack!
