I found this really cool tutorial on Image Sharpening in GIMP.

http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Smart_Sharpening/

Some of his menu navigation is out dated, but it's easy to figure out. For example he says to go through Image to get to Filter, but Filter is its own menu now.

I used it on one of my images; here are the results, pretty awesome stuff:

Pre-Sharpening / Post-Sharpening:

Hope you find this helpful! Let me know if you have questions, I might be able to answer them haha.

HI there
Thanks for your nice sharing.I tried to sharpen the image using this code which is from an image SDK in google:
namespace WindowsApplication1
{
public partial class Form1 : Form
{
public Form1()
{
InitializeComponent();
}

private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string fileName = "c:/Sample.png";

REImage reImage = REFile.OpenImageFile(fileName);

REImage newImage = ImageProcessing.ApplySharpen(reImage);

REFile.SaveImageFile(newImage, "c:/reimage.png", new PNGEncoder());
}
But i failed.What's wrong with my code?Is there any image tool which supports to do that directly?Thanks a lot
