I have had an idea, that to lose the least amount of hard hitting units, I will put a small 5 man squad of hellions in my list, and use them for "pre" assaults, to soak up over watch, then move in with hard hitting units, such as incubi, or tarp its such as wyches. Does this seem viable?

I'm leaning towards saying no. My reasoning is that unless Hellions are significantly harder than witches (I don't know, I've never read their profile), the only thing that a pre-charge unit will do is cause your secondary unit to not get their extra attack. All in all, you are probably overreacting to overwatch, even against T3 targets with a low save, such as Wytches and Kroot, it isn't all that effective, maybe getting one or two kills (A 10 man SM squad at full strength with bolters will get 3 hits and cause 2 wounds on average against T3 with a 5+ or worse save. If they have a Flamer, you will instead see about 4 wounds, but every other special weapon has a neglible effect). So if you are really worried about overwatch, the solution is to A) Bring more shooting. It's much easier to assault when the enemy's squad is smaller. And B) Bring larger squads. The days of bringing 5 Wytches in a Vemon as an assault unit are probably dead (although with Haywires they do destroy tanks). However, Wytches in a raider will still do fairly well after suffering a couple of casualties.

Fair enough, thanks for the tips, also, I think eldar pathfinder allies can certainly help take out annoying flamer troopers, thank you for your suggestions.

Hellion Hitting and Running

Hellions cost too much to be used as shielding unit, also being a small fragile unit, your opponent won't find it hard to just dispose of them before they get close. Beside, using hellions(higher points) to shield wyches(lower points) sounds silly as hell.

It's pretty hard to run hellions for anything but the Baron Hellions gang, I think. They eat up a good chunk of your points as well as a slot in your list.
