Hello, I have started to look in to buying and selling on the swap shop and was curious about a couple things. First I'm assuming its alwasy a good idea to ask the person for boartd references, but what should i do if they have no previous trades on the board? For shipping, should I follow the rules I use on ebay and only ship with tracking? Thanks for the input guys and gals.

If someone has positive trades on the board, they will have some level of positive rep in the Reputable Traders List. Like I think I have like 5 or 6, which has come from the few trades I've done via Dakka, but there is a list of people that have like over 100 positive trades on Dakka.

The entire swap shop runs on the idea of Buyer Beware. Dakka assumes no responsability for lost or stolen items, so you're taking a risk no matter who you buy or sell with, it's just something they tell you up front. Should you have someone with 0 trades on Dakka, or no possible board references, then you are taking a bigger risk. It's cool, we all have to be that guy at some point in our lives.

As for shipping, always ship with at least a delivery confirmation if nothing else (I've been able to get buy with it, but then again, I really only sell to people I know). It's always good to ship with tracking and maybe some insurance, especially if you ship across borders.

Note: Should you get a bad trade or w/e, you can open a transaction report and the mods will give you steps on hedging your losses and trying to reach an amicable solution for both parties.

Hope this helps
