Well I decided that someday I might make a small Eldar force, 1000 points or so.
In anticipation of this distant event, I have written up a quick background of my invented Craftworld Lyindia.
Here goes
Craftworld Lyindia "The ever-mourning"
It is believed that during the fall, the craftworld of Lyindia was nearly lost in the swirling vortex of psychic energy released during the birth of Slaanesh. Thousands of those who resided on its surface had their souls pulled from their bodies as an enormous section of the craftworld was torn open and ripped away by the psychic shockwave, plunging away from Lyindia into the eye of terror. Those who remained, clinging to whatever was left of their craftworld could do nothing save for watch in abject horror as their kin were drawn into the ruinous embrace of Slaanesh.
This event was burned into these Eldar’s psyche and the mourning of their lost kin is one of the central pillars of their dwindling society. Even to this day, over 10 000 years since the fall, the Eldar of craftworld Lyindia still remember the names of every one of their brothers and sisters lost during the cataclysmic event. The loss of any of their kin is an event of significance. Their spirit stones are placed with great reverence into the infinity circuit, their bodies burned to sacred ash and their names remembered for all eternity.
Held in the highest regard are those elder souls which are brought back from the infinity circuit into new forms. The Wraithguard and Wraithlords of Lyndia are held in great respect and reverence by the Eldar, often worshipped as the return from death of the Craftworld’s greatest warriors. These war machines often form the mainstay of the warhost’s force due to the lack of remaining aspect shrines upon Lyindia, however it is not uncommon for shrines of the striking scorpion and dire avenger to take part. Additional forces are often found in the forms of pathfinders and rangers, who often scout ahead of the main force.
The craftworld itself is lush and verdant, the Eldar who reside upon it placing almost equal spiritual importance upon the forest as their do for their dead. Vast temple cities are scattered across the craftworld, separated by seas of impenetrable rainforest.
The Family clans of Lyindia reside within these ornate temples and it is seen as the responsibility of all citizens to maintain the stories and legends of the ancient elder pantheon. Asuryan, Isha, Vaul, Kurnous. All of the gods are worshipped zealously, however it is Khaine the bloody handed that these Eldar hold in highest awe and respect. When their warhost marches, the Eldar of Lyindia are almost always led by Khaine’s avatar, and the anger and vengeance of their entire race soon follows.
