Hey guys, I am starting my first CSM army (second army next to my orks) I am going with a DP as my hq choice and i was looking at weapon choices. I do like the idea of the axe of blinding fury. The idea of this deamon would be to get in the grunt of combat and take out as many units as possible.

Any sugjestions

Axe isn't bad but I'd prefer the mace.
Smash gives you AP2 and the extra kills from failed T tests will add up fast.

Tbh I might just magnatize the thing and have the options for both. Also note my Daemon will be winged

Yea, I would take the Black Mace, Wings and Power Armor

Then either Daemon of Khorne or Daemon of Slaanesh

Unless you are making him into a Psyker, then go Daemon of Tzeentch

Go with the mace. maybe even add a combat familiar. Khorne isn't the strongest choice IMO. Tzeentch and Nurgle (when used properly) are the best builds. Go with wings, mace, armor, Mark, all other options are your choice.

You get a hammer of wrath, 6 attacks on the charge +d6, +2 s4 attacks if you add the combat familiar. (total of 13 possible attacks on the charge, plus other forced toughness tests). Mace is definitely the best build for DPs, because of all of the extra attacks and all of the toughness tests that it forces. Running into a mob, a unit of wraiths, an MC, or anything else, and you still will do really well.

Imagine smashing and charging. He would halve his attacks (to 3), add one for the charge, and then add d6. So theoretically you could have 10 WS9 S10 I8 attacks on the charge. That is pretty damn appealing to me.

This build is what I use when I rarely field my princes. Khorne is cheap for a mark but Nurgle is best defensively giving your prince a 3+ cover while flying. That said, I've been using Tzeentch more recently as re-rolling 1s is a ton more valuable than you might imagine.

If you get them wings the nurgle one doesn't need the armor which makes it a lot better than the rest, cheaper and as deadly, having a 3+ cover save while flying is when you will be more vulnerable, once it gets to CC, I8 and all those attacks/fleshbane should just destroy anaything before it can hit him back

if your going strait beat stick with mace id go nurgle diving for a 3+cover or standing in area for a 3+ cover is better invul then ull get from other gods

I like DoS simply for the fleet. Making sure you get into CC is important. Thanks to the boosted run distance, I'd probably have him gliding more often than not.

Axe of blind fury is ridiculous! He wiped mephiston out before he even swung! Nasty! I always field my prince with the axe. Sometimes I run a 2k list with him and a black mace prince too. You should see the look in my opponents face.

Isn't mephiston T6? I'm not saying the prince can't kill him, but the black mace will have no real effect on that fight. It is more of a counter to him getting bogged down by hordes. It won't help vs a tough single model. Well, barring a lucky roll.

One thing I found it does work great against is that big unit of wraiths. "NO SAVES OF ANY KIND". Wraith players don't like to hear that!

If you read my post it says axe of blind fury killed mephiston. Not the black mace
