Ok folks. I am going to be starting an escalation league over here in Japan and would like your help with the rules. i think i have a pretty solid base right now but a second set of eyes is always appreciated. Here is what I have so far:
Escalation league
Rules:
A. Have fun
B. The total points in this will be 1500pts. We are starting small and do not want to overwhelm people on the first go at this.
C. Armies must be what you see is what you get. If it is not modeled on the actual model you cannot use it in the game.
D. No “House Rules” IE: our drop pod house rule. We will be using what is in the rule book for 6th edition. NO Book mashing either. If there is a previous codex
with a special character to what is in the codex now you may not use it. IE: the red terror from the old tyranids codex(it was taken out for a reason) or space
wolves using the leman russ battle tank.
E. Your army does not need to be painted, though you will get extra tournament points for having a painted one.
F. Beginning matches will be random. Every match after that will be winners against winners and losers against losers to give all a fair chance at winning the
over all.
G. The tournament will be a points based event. IE you do not have to win all your matches to be the overall winner.
H. Rules arguments will be settled by the rule book. If it is not in the rule book we will go with the best interpretation of the rule and that will be a majority rules
call. Once the majority has spoken there will be no arguing the ruling. This is to keep things simple, and remain fun. It might work in your favor and it might
not.
I. Good sportsmanship. There will be a prize for the player voted the best sportsman of the tournament. This is to maintain the light atmosphere and promote
good gaming habits.
J. Sick Days: we are in the military and sometimes duty calls. If you miss a tournament day you and your partner for that match will have until two days before
the next tournament date to make up the match. This is on the honor system and you need to keep track of your victory points. If there is a no show for you
neither of you will get any points for the missed games. Exceptions can be made but that will be on a case by case basis.
K. Army lists must be submitted to Joel Brown for verification no less than 2 days prior to the game day they are for.
L. Games will not last more than 6 turns. At the end of turn 6 that is it. The rules of the mission will denote the winner at that time.
Here is how the points will work.
1. 2 points for a win
2. 1 point for completing the mission objectives (this will usually go to the winner, but for those that just want to annihilate their opponent the will not receive this
point unless the also complete the objective)
3. 1 point for killing the enemy commander (the one pointed out at the beginning of the game
4. 1 point for having a fully painted army
Tournament breakdown:
Week 1: 500 pt patrol X 2 Games = 10pts possible
Must be a combat patrol.
Combat Patrol Rules are as follows:
You must stay within the allotted points limit. You must use this Force Organization Chart; 1 HQ, 1 - 3 Troops, 0-1 Elite, 0-1 Fast Attack, 0-1 Heavy Support, 0-1 Optional additional Troop, Elite, Fast Attack, or Heavy Support Choice.
You must field at least one HQ and one troop choice. You are not required to field any mandatory choice per your codex rules. HQ choices that don't take an HQ slot may be taken as your HQ, provided they do not require any additional codex requirements. (I.E. you still need a commander to have a command squad)
You may not field additional FOC chart slots than the ones listed, including choices which don't take a Force Organization Slot.
No models in your army may have more than 2 wounds with the exception of HQ choices, troop choices, and swarms. No model in your army may contain a 2+ armor save, nor a 2+ or 3+ invulnerable save. No vehicles in your army can have an AV value greater than 12 on any facing, this only counts a vehicle's base armor. Do not count Wargear or Special Rules which add to the armor value.
Week 2: 750 pts X 2 Games = 10 pts possible
Restricted FOC use the following rules.
Restricted FOC. All the standard rules apply, but you must follow the following FOC chart. 1 - 2 HQ, 1 - 6 Troops, 0-2 Elite, 0-2 Fast Attack, 0-2 Heavy Support, 0-1 Optional additional Troop, Elite, Fast Attack, or Heavy Support Choice.
Week 3: 1000 pts X 2 Games : 10 pts possible
All normal rules apply from this point on.
Week 4: 1250 pts X 2 Games: 10pts possible
Week 5: 1500 pts X 2 Games: 10pts possible
To summarize its what the name says “Escalation” this is going to be based on a 50 point maximum for the whole tournament.
Prizes:
Each week we will take an anonymous vote for the best sportsman of that week and that will be used to determine the sportsman gift.
Along with the sportsman award there will be a best painted award. The best painted is for a single model. This will be another anonymous vote and will be take each week. Model with the most overall votes wins. The prize will be kept a secret for the entirety of the tournament until the end. (this also applies to the sportsman award)
If you all decide to we can have a best painted during the competition too. This would be a model that has to be new in the box at the start of week one. You bring in the model and show everyone. Then during the down time you take the model and convert put together and paint it by the end of the tournament. This model can be anything made by Games workshop. But would be better if it is for an army you play as that is the goal of this tournament. But this can be decided before we start.
For the winner of the tournament: if everyone puts in 5-10 dollars at the end of the tournament we will order the winner a prize FOR THEIR ARMY. This will not be a monetary prize and any left over proceeds will be applied to the next tournament.
Questions:
If there are any questions contact plonshart(name and email omited for obvious reasons). He will be the provost for this tournament.
Again. This is for fun and its going to be a blast folks.
SPILL BLOOD!!!
Again. any suggestions from you gamers to make this more fun would be awesome. Also if there are any 40k players who want to participate and are in Japan let me know.
