Usually the ships states if it has one or two shield generators.
For each shield generator you get two dice.
You roll the dice after they have shot and after you have shot aa or cc.
You negate rockets and torpedoes on a 5, 6.
You negate all other shots on a 4, 5, and 6.
Shields don't negate Bombs, Mines, Collisions, or Rams.
6s still explode.
MARs can change the rolls dependent on what is stated.
