Hey guys, first time doing a serious P&M log. Just a disclaimer to put up first; you will probably see some mold lines and whatnot here and there. I'm sorry. Myself and sharp objects like hobby knives tend to disagree on a lot of things, this being one of them. It's either a huge chunk missing from a model, or a huge chunk missing from my finger. So apologies if that's going to bother anyone!

The purpose of this log is to lay out where my painting has come from, and to give myself a bit of a reason to keep painting. I can be quite easily distracted so this should hopefully keep me focused a bit. To show where I've come from to where I am, let me do a bit of a background of my time in the hobby.

I started off with Eldar shortly before 5th ed launched. While I had looked at Necrons, a friend at the time suggested I look elsewhere as his brother was looking at starting them, so as to give a bit more variety. I also thought on Tau, but finally went with Eldar for the whole specialised troop set-up. Needless to say, my painting sucked.
Spoiler:

I sucked quite badly at the game and got frustrated for a while so stepped back a bit; I was young and dumb. (still am) Decided to use this time and fiddle a bit painting wise, see how I could improve. I eventually decided to jump into Tau, having a major love for mecha anime at the time; yeah, I fit the stereotype a bit but I loved the idea of sitting back and shooting things. I tested out the scheme on a leftover Guardian (left); I also tested out sometime after I started my Tau army the possibility of doing the Yme-Loc scheme on my Eldar (right).
Spoiler:

The orange was way too much hassle for me to do across a whole army at the time; so I went with the blue/grey for my Tau. This was also my first major jump into proper shading. I also tried my hand at a bit of damage wear and tear.

Spoiler:

Once the Dark Eldar released and like many others, I couldn't resist. My painting had improved a fair bit by this point as well.
Spoiler:

I then got a few Grey Knights for painting experience.

Spoiler:

When Necrons got re-released, I thought it was about time to go with the army I was originally intending to collect. I still love the idea of a mass wave of undead bodies marching across the battlefield.

A few of my warriors.

My Harbinger of Despair
Spoiler:

One of my lords
Spoiler:

A few of my gauss immortals

My Triach Stalker
Spoiler:

Currently gearing my Necrons up for a tournament coming at the end of February which is 750pt. Thought this would also be a good time to rework my Tau and Dark Eldar to the desert bases and with new paint schemes. (I do like the way the bases have come out) When testing out a scheme for the Tau, funnily enough, it came out almost as a dead ringer for the official standard theme. (was not intentional)

Spoiler:

Will post proposed lists later and get a few more painted before the weekend is through with any luck.
