That Sebster explained a certain posters behavior like this:
Basically think of that particularly dreadful type of cross over fan fiction, where characters are thrown in from all over the place not based on being from the same genre, or having anything even remotely to do with each other, but basically because the author has heard of them. So the stuff where Jean Luc Picard teams up with John the Baptist to stop Sauron from leading the British forces to victory in the Revolutionary War.

It seems we may owe someone an apology.

Because Data...and fething Wolverine.

I hope Worf gets an adamantium bat'leth. And Jubilee gets killed by a tar monster.

The funny thing about that book is that it was written before the X-Men movie happened... and there are a couple of throwaway comments in there about the similarities between Picard and Xavier.

Well, I found it amusing, anyway.

Pretty rubbish book otherwise.

Isn't there a rule on the internet that everything exists on the internet, and if you think you've thought of something so stupid that it can't exist, then it will retro-actively come into existance? If not there should be.

Meanwhile, Star Trek just really let the franchises go to whoever will pay them some money, don't they? I mean, that kind of approach makes sense with something like Batman, because that guy is awesome no matter who is standing next to him. But Picard is only awesome in the context of Star Trek... put him in a story next to Wolverine and now he's just an old, bald guy that likes tea.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I'm inclined to agree with you, but in Picards case I think he just needs a ship to be awesome. It doesn't really matter what type. I mean throw him on an aircraft carrier or a tall ship and he rocks again.

I actually found this in a physical bookstore, hense the crappy photo. I just remembered that comment and had to share. And also because I found the combination revolting.

Wow. That's pretty amazing then. I wrote that stupid sentence like last week, and then you see something weirdly close to it. Cool.

Oh yeah, that combination is just awful.

I dunno, I think Picard's BA levels don't come from physical ability. He's not James Bond, or a muscle bound Lumberjack who's been mutated into a walking human cuisinart. He used to be that guy, but he's a bamf in his greying years, He's made klingons back down on the sheer force of will, brokered more peace treaties, in the middle of shooting wars then any of us have had nervous first dates.

He also fought three Narsicans with his bare hands. And he was winning too until one of them pulled a knife.

Clearly Picard is a BA because Patrick Steward is a BA.

You are talking about a guy who made this his profile picture on Twitter:

Sir Patrick Stewart has a lively sense of humor. You should hear Brent Spiner do an imitation of his voice though. It's uncanny.

Did you guys see Patrick Stewart on the Daily Show a while back? Freaking hilarious.

Also the guy hasn't AGED. Like seriously watch the first episode of TNG (encounter at fairpoint) and then find the most recent photo of Sir Patrick you can find via google. Except for wearing a beard at one point the man hasn't changed at all.

I suspect having no hair has something to do with it, but the man is clearly immortal or something

Maybe it's the effects of long term exposure of earl grey tea and a healthy life style on a human body?

Or he's a Highlander, I'll go with that.

He's aged better than pretty much every other TNG cast member. Probably most notably Johnathan Frakes. Poor guy is wrecked. But I've been a fan of Sir Pat for a log time and he has aged noticeably. It's just been graceful.

Gathering the Informations.

The simple solution is that Patrick Stewart is, in fact, a warlock.
