Since they are basically melta pistols would anyone have a problem with me swapping out the melta barrel off a gun and putting it on a pistol as a counts as infernus pistol?

I swear I think those two have a hate-crush on each other sometimes. |

Take a bolt pistol, remove the end of the canon and the magazine, glue the melta barrel, and you're ok. If you're fancy, take a canister of some sort (the canister of a flamer for instance) and glue it in place of the magazine.
I'd play that.

Nothing about "WYSIWYG" says that the model has to be an official one. People convert all the time. So long as it is clear what the weapon is, it shouldn't be a problem, in "official" games or friendly ones.

Absolutely none.
I mean, seriously, look at the actual infernus pistol bit:
If you can't see how the official model is just a bolt pistol with a melta end on it, you lack imagination.

I say go for it.
In the past I have armed Kroot Merc Shapers with meltaguns and flamers based off of adding the appropriate magazine and barrel to the basic Kroot Rifle frame, for ease of integration to the model as it's what the figure is already meant to hold.
