Can anyone here who plays Clash of Empires/War & Conquest give me a quick review? I know they are based around the WAB system, but what really stands out for you about these two games the most?

I am looking to getting intop playing one of these systems (already played FOG, Impetvs, DBx, and Hail Caesar isn't to my taste - I play tourney style a lot!).

Thanks again

Were there be dragons....

I play the W&C rules. Highly recommend them, they are based on WAB for the simple reason Rob Broom the author helped to produce WAB 2....
However they are a very big improvement and introduce a lot of nice neat simple mechanics that work much better then WAB.
Strategy intervention points allow you to improve your chances at crucial moments for moral or initiative order but its still very easy to throw it down the drain yourself.
Combat is very attritional although winning a round will give you a slight bonus next round which keeps adding up. However a bad round will put you back to square 1.
Try and find someone on the scarab forums willing to show you a game.

Go and have a look at the sites. For me, the army lists in CoE are one of the best points; they are fresh, well-researched, balanced. Other systems just rehash or copy the old WRG army lists.
