Ho -k so, I just bought 9 Dark Vengeance bikes. When I first bought them my intent was to make some Flesh Tearer bikes, but then I got to thinking about how it would be cool to have some allies. I know the Dark Angels can do bikes or Ravenwing bikes. I don't have a DA codex because I don't know if i want to do this yet or not. My question is this:

What's the difference between regular bikers and Ravenwing bikers? Is there an advantage to one over the other? And as a follow up, do the benefits outweigh just making regular Flesh Tearer bikers with BA codex rules?

I have decided to compromise. I'm going to do an ~500 pt Dark Angels Ravenwing squad with Sammael (so I can make them troops) and whatever's left (I got 9 total so I might have to just buy a single bike to even it out) into Flesh Tearer bikers so I can get that FNP.

I personally do not like regular BA bike squads, attack bikes are great though. Bringing bike squads as allies is more interesting since they can be scoring. Ravenwing comes with a price premium of having to bring Sammael; but Sammael is cool. Using C:SM, you can make a cheaper-ish Captain to get scoring bikes too.

Ravenwing bikes also have scout.
I use that to get meltas into range on turn 1. I've killed so many vehicles with scouting bikes with meltas, even collapsed a bastion in on two longfang squads before they ever got to shoot.

but DA are getting a new 'dex in January, so maybe hold off on deciding what to do with them. Everything could change.
