I was looking and quite a few models allow me to take a power fist and a lighting claw on the same model. which of course gives +1 attack. the blood angels assault marines sergeant could leap through the air to raindown 4 attacks with the choice of a power fist for extra hurties, or a lightning claw for bloody carnage. The Vanguard vet and sternguard vet sarge can do it too. so can the vanilla blood angels captain. considering that the combo allows for speedy attacks when needed or slower more powerful blows when appropriate- it seems like a great idea to me. 1 guy wrecks havoc on the tank/terminators then is ready to challenge the fast moving assault group . of course you can't use the abilities of both weapons at the same time- but since they are both specialist weapons- they will add that bonus attack.

Is this an OK idea?

It's too many points to spend on a 1W model with no inv save.

It's a sound plan on more durable units though.

i can see that- on an assault sarge- its only 15 more points than just the power fist. and on 6's those hits are precision so they can be allocated by you. it might even make a captain worth taking. attach him to a unit of assaults where the sarge has the combo too. then go to town. a terminator captain can get the combo for 165 points OR...a bike captain for 175. I think I like that idea.

I'm switching my ASM sergeants to dual hand flamers. It's cheaper, and kills a lot more stuff, which reduces the attacks I have to face in assault, increasing my chances of winning the combat more than killing 1 (or 2 if I've spent 40 points on weapons) guy with a powerfist swing.

I'm at work and dont have RB with me but I'm pretty sure for specialist weaps it has to be the same weps (i.e. 2 wolf claws) I'd check just to be safe though. I think it is kind of a waste of points for a lone 1W model though.

It was in 5th, it isn't in 6th, I've done your double checking for you. Believe me!

So an allied captain with a thunderclaw, a powerfist, hellfire rounds on a bike with artificer armour would be
2+
Jink cover save
Iron halo invuln save
3 wounds
toughness 5
wounds on 2 rapidfire bolter with relentless
followed by hammer of wrath and then 5 powerfists or lightning claws

so 8 attacks on a charge
2 in shooting phase
1 at init 10
5 on a 1 or 5 more at 4 rerolling wounds

expensive....but i think worth it- as bikes become troopers

You're doing something horribly wrong if you get him to 8 attacks on the charge, even counting HoW as an attack.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

2 from relentless bolter (which are twin linked and wound on 2s)
hammer of wrath
charge attack
3 attacks regularly
1 attack from secondary weapon

8 attacks

5 of which are either power fists or lightning claws

I think people would rather you seperate shooting and melee, but ymmv.

I tried a PF,LC and artificer armor build in my last game, and he ended up putting out 3-4 woulds per phase he fought in. If he wan't in a challenge, he would have put some hurt on the guys he charged.

if only the wolf guard didn't keep making his saves.

and remember, if he is in artificer armor on foot, he can still throw grenades. not bad for around 150pts!

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."
