Made in th
Pyromaniac Hellhound Pilot

Just finished the game. there are some criticks
1. Fast Travel mode, F.....k yes! but too few places to do that properly
2. Combat. so so. typical hack n' slash swashbuckling but... different dirty tricks in the swordfight exists. using pistol is one thing, but it's not the only option. but bad cams made it unattractive
But since this game is Pirate themed. player also have access to other firearms as well. muskets, and shotguns (spoilers: Final boss is better executed by musketry). but magic is not attractive
Also blunt-weapons are bogus here. fusils without bayonet blade does no damage in melee, Bayonets aren't really impressive enough...
- pistols reload VERY slow, strange enough, fusils reload MUCH faster! and that without specific skill aid. I presumed that all muskets and shotguns are breech loaders.
3. Character developments
- "Glory" replaces experiences. and it combines the functions of 'skill points/stat points' which was common elsewhere.
- Player (and companions) always have 100 Hitpoints, only skills make a difference. (and it means player must find better attire to dress. again! Caribbean pirate themed game means that no full armor, the best armor was many - many layers of Malburian coats.
- two talents drawing stat points from different attributes serve the same function! Intimidate and Silver Tongue. this is purely redundancy! also it doesn't seem to have much use in this game, in some dialogues using this option is useless
- Some skills rarely have any use. the 'Nuff said' (immediately end a conversation with fatal headshot, only be done if player is equipped with pistol and still have an associated ammo) . very few characters are affected by the skill, there needs to be more quest characters that can be defeated that way. for example. Corrientes/Garcia in "greedy captain" quest.
- Lacks of Ethics system. "The end justify the means"
- Pickpocketing always success if player has met a required thievery talent value. different pickpocketing dialogue exists to spice up the gameplay. Strangely enough. even within LOS of city guards, they never turn hostile if they see player pickpockets someone else he's talk too.
- too few 'medicines' option available. strangely enough. healing potions are distilled alchohols. Grog and Rum. healing by food consumption during combat resulting in health regeneration is a bit more reasonable though.
- too few companions. there are totally 7 but only 6 joins player, and it depends on player decisions in faction quest.
4. Quickslot is VERY useful. apart from consumable items, players can insert different weapons into quickslots to swap them should combat situation changes. very useful for marksmen style player, one slot for his fusil, others for sword.
5. Game world.
- Too small. 1 island is unused in game. it appears on the map though
- The "Inquisiton" represents ANY european Imperial powers in real life.
- Natives appeared to belong to the SAME 'civilization'. tribal differences don't seems to exist. too bad it was a bad mishmash of Blacks, Native americans (ex. a mix of Iroquois, Delaware, Caribs, Incan, Mayan, Aztecs, and alotmore!), Creoles, Indians, Arabians, and even Asians!!! (In real life, by the time of caribbean pirates, many asians of that time already established an empire and 'well refined' cultures. far from any definitions of 'tribal savages' in the eyes of whites)
- Pirates dresses much better than citizens of the Old Empire! (now ruled by the Inquisition)
- None of the Inquisition troopers (called Protectors) wear helmets, nor any associated headgears! what's wrong with design team?!
fantasy 'coats and cuirass' can still be called 'creative'. however, low rank line infantrymen should NOT wear muscle cuirass, only high rank officiers and commandants may wear it. also the leather cuirass looks ALOT like ones from Might and Magic 7 and 8.
Protectors with muskets are cool, pirates without ones, not cool. (This is strange! items named "Pirate rifle" exists but none of them actually use one, strange!)
- Naval mode is quaint. no actual ship piloting options available
- Technology progresses VERY fast! in Risen 1, cannons are the only gunpowder weapons available. no handheld firearms exists by then. and many years later... within the lifetime of the "Hero" from the Risen 1. firearms quickly replaced archery and crossbows. not only that! 18th century Line inf. warfare is already introduced at the beginning of Risen 2 !!
6. What's next?
Risen 3 may becomes steampunk cowboy shootout! the Two titans fighting over the Lost Realm could be the next target, Mauregato has not been impeached YET, aerial combat may be introduced. different magics will be introduced.
but who knows?
