Bathing in elitist French expats fumes

Hi,

A friend of mine loves his IG parking lot. Having one myself, I love it too, but I am loathe to play it because I know it's no fun for the opponent. But anyhoo.

Since I do not own a car, the simplest way for me to lug an army around is to have a Deathwing. I have been pulling my hair out trying to make a list that can actually survive deep strike to get a turn of movement. Here is what I usually field:

Belial (TH/SS)

5 Deathwing squads (I have a mix of TH/SS and SB/PF models, each squad has a CML)

Dreadnought (TLLC/ML)

1 Ravenwing Squad of 6 bikes + 1 Assault bike (all broken into combat squads, one melta each squad, AB has MM)

1 Devi squad of 2 LC and 2 ML (broken into combat squads)

I'm at 2000 pts on the nose.

I've found that I can't even bring down AV 12 reliably. I throw so few dice, that it generally takes me until turn 3 or 4 to kill a Chimera. I'm not superstitious, so I am not blaming the dice.

He usually stays buttoned up inside his transports, fires with mass flamers, plasmaguns, lascannons and griffon mortars (They are cheap, after all, and relatively precise)

Bonus Question: This happened last night and he didn't have his codex: can you order a squad to get back in the fight, then FRFSRF and then BiD all in a single phase? This was directed at a blob (a recent experiment in his case) hidden behind his ADL.

The Answer to this question is likely going to change in two weeks, Perhaps waiting to see what the new codex brings, before rewriting your list?

I was just keen on tactics, without necessarily rewriting the list atm, as I'm sure that'll change, for sure. But I think most of the core of it is very likely to remain the same.

It's not as if the codex will likely change the rules for deep strike, eh?

Perhaps not the core, but the "Deathwing Assault" May shake things up a little in those regards. I wish we had more info by now!

Me too. It seems we've been hearing rumours for long months by now.

Are your raven wing surviving long enough to close on his parking lot?

If so deep strike you Termies right in front of the aegis and then run them forward to disperse them (reduce flamer impact) and get then as close as possible to the front vehicles you will suddenly find them much more survivable, not to mention you will then be in a great position next turn to start pop/charging his chimera/squads.

If not then you will need some other plan.

That is pretty much what I have devised as a plan. It works ok, which is all I can ask for until next week.

He is set on giving more than one order per squad, even though I showed him my codex. He looked furiously through the FAQ and Errata trying to find it, to no avail.

One very helpful thing: everything in his army is AV 10 on the side, so if it's at all possible to deep strike into his side arc (scout move locator beacons help) you'll find that the killing power of your CMLs goes up significantly.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
