Hi all, First post here.

I'm trying to find out if I should hang on to my Gorkamorka figures. I've heard that you can convert them to 40k Orks, but know nothing else.

I have:

1 Rokkit Buggy
1 Wrekker Trukk
6 Ork Boyz
1 Spanner Boy
1 Nob

How many more models would I need to play in a sanctioned 40K game? Mind you it's been almost 15 years since I last played, so treat me as a n00b.

Good to meet you all!

Honestly you'd have to start with the Ork Codex.

Take into consideration that you need 1 HQ and 2 troops minimum to fill out a FOC.

you might have a little over 100pts there.

You are going to need a lot more boyz after you figure out your list based on the FOC. Ultimately it will depend on what kind of Orks you want to run (speed freaks, Mek, or 'sloggin'), but most Ork lists have a good number of boyz.

WAAAGH!!!

An average boyz squad runs from 10 to 30 guys. You have 6; 7 if you include the nob leader. Boyz are 6 points a man, and your average 40k game runs 1500 points and up.

All of those figures are still perfectly legal and perfectly usable. However, you are a LONG way away from having enough models to play a "standard" game of Warhammer 40k.

At the very absolute minimum you will need 14 more boys (to make two squads of ten) to have a legal list -- Assuming you run your Nob as a Warboss (your HQ choice). Add in your two vehicles with the above additions and you'll have something like 200 points.

What you have here is really almost nothing. The smallest standard games are usually played at 500 points, with more 'full bodied' games running 1500 to 2000 (or 1999 to avoid that silly second FOC). If you want to really play 40k you are going to need A LOT more models! You can get a lot of Orks for very cheap if you are willing to scrounge EBAY.

also....this might be less helpful...but compared to current kits the gorka morka stuff truely looks like ass....that being said the buggy is still current -_- just hopefully not for much longer

I still have a ton of Gorkamorka stuff. 6 trukks (which people hate) and 7 buggies, not to mention the hordes of Grots and Boyz. Never heard any complaints, just a few comments about how strange they look.

Actually, I have had complaints about the trukks, because they can be hidden from view so easily.

When the new trukk and bike kits came out my old gorka morka era ones went into the trash without hesitation. Oh it took me a while to replace them, but I couldn't bear the shame of using such hideous models where the orks were the size of grots.

I use my Gorka Morka trucks as buggies,

But they are still official GW trucks so by the rules you can still use them. But they do look awful.

That's a really good idea. Convert a TL rokkit into the bed, and it'd work just fine.

I have a ton of buggies now, I'd say.
