Hi im new to warhammer 40k and I bought a battleforce to help start off my space marine army. i should have enough leftover bits to build a captain but does anyone know how to convert his iron halo? Any help is welcome thanks

Just from the battleforce bits? Doesn't look like there's an easy way. Captains have an iron halo in their profile though, so it's not like somebody can say that you can't use because it's not modeled.

If the tactical squad comes with a banner, i don't remember if they do or not, you could use whatever is on the top of the banner on your captains backpack to help him stand out. Or you could get creative with the aquila from the rhino kit in there. maybe heat it up in some hot water and bend it around his shoulder pad or something. For my Hq and squad leaders i just add more of the decorative junk to them so they look more important. you could also go Dawn of War and paint different sections of his armor gold or silver to indicate that its special somehow. Good luck and have fun.

You could use any kind of icon or decoration, stick it on top of his backpack. This would represent an iron halo clearly, I reckon.

You could go the real old school way of doing an iron halo by just painting in on his shoulder, or anywhere really, but it's normally the shoulder. It's normally done as a red circle with small spiky bits.

Sir Samuel Buca has a great idea there. As aforementioned though, its in wargear so nobody will be able to challenge it. I would wait though until you expand and have some cooler extra bits laying around

The banners do come with the tactical squad and I think they even have some other decorative bits that you could put on top of the backpack to be the iron Halo. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong with painting it on the shoulder pad.
