Short-hand: 1850 points, first tournament that will run the final NOVA 2013 primer missions, 3 rounds, NOVA Invitational spot for winner IF it sells out.

Cross-posting. Please note, I'm promoting this but am not the tournament organizer or chief judge. I'll only be there to assist with handing out some bonus prizes, and to help trial run our new paint scoring approach (which is pretty rad tad).

Numerous members of the NOVA Open team will be helping run a tournament at Huzzah Hobbies in Loudon County on Saturday, February 2.

http://www.huzzahhobbies.com/

This event will use our FINAL Primer Packet, with substantial revisions from the current draft primer being playtested all over the world. This year's Chief 40k Judge, Mike Somerville, will be acting in that role at the event. Mike "Shades" Schaefer, Bob Likins and I will be rolling out our revamped appearance scoring system and giving it a shot there. Prizes should be pretty decent, and I believe there are a max of 26 spots.

Jon Pryts and James Watkins of NOVA staff are the primary organizers for the event, and I believe the plan is to reward a grand prize the Renaissance Man (50% competitive, 50% appearance), and equivalent smaller prizes to all the Tournament Aces (those who finish the three round event undefeated).

I do not believe painting is required, but it is naturally quite recommended, since it'll be key to winning the grand prize!

A note: Shades and Bob have been putting a lot of time into a revamped appearance scoring process. There'll be a number of innovations key to it, and we'll get Shades to put a few blog posts together to talk about it in the near future.

Reminder to all - registration opens on Feb 1. This will be especially important for those events with limited seating, or things with limited availability. Our VIP bags are back and bigger than ever (more to come), and we've received numerous e-mails asking what time registration opens so people can ensure they get one (last year's were AMAZING, this year's are even better thanks to our sponsors, especially KR).

Anyone who purchases a NOVA-KR VIP bag will also be getting a special lifetime bonus - every year after the year you acquire the VIP, you'll earn the ability to get 2 $50 KR Custom Cases for the price of 1. Yup, Daryl over at KR is giving a lifetime benefit to repeat NOVA attendees who were at one point a VIP.

For the KR thing does that include the people who VIP'd last year?

Best Painted (2015 Adepticon 40k Champs)

They Shall Know Fear - Adepticon 40k TT Champion (2012 & 2013) & 40k TT Best Sport (2014), 40k TT Best Tactician (2015 & 2016)

Yes, Brad. Also, I believe he'll be stacking similarly high-value benefits for repeat years. Can't promise that yet. I believe you have to attend the NOVA to benefit from the VIP bonus that year, but you'll retain at least the free $50 custom foam card case every year forever even if you don't opt into the VIP again.

For those who were VIP last year, half our VIP bags (I think we're selling 80 this time) will be the Kaiser 2's, instead of the Backpack 2's.

We're also adding a VIP lounge (will let you stash your army, possibly hang out with some of the high profile vendor/sponsor/speaker types, yada yada), and different/better stuff from what was in the bag last year. Price will be either the same or +$5.

Course, we're also massively upgrading just about everything anyway, so I don't want it to sound as if it's JUST for VIP guys that things are getting up there.

Long story short, if you VIP once, attending the NOVA in subsequent years will permanently net you a $50 gift cert - a TRUE "gift" - from KR.
This'll be confirmed and detailed out on the site prior to reg going live.

Update:

To register for this, either e-mail the store, call the store, or show up and sign up in person.

From the owner of Huzzah Hobbies:

To sign-up they can call the store (703) 466-0460, stop by or e-mail me huhncc@comcast.net

Space is VERY limited, and there's already a lot of interest apparently (again, I'm not the organizer), so I'd snag a spot if interested.

Hey All

I'm James (as MVB mentioned above I'm one of the event organizeers). I'm just posting a quick update to provide some additional details. Sorry it'll be slightly repetitive!

To register please call Chris at 703-466-0460. There are currently 20 spots available and they are already filling fast, please register in advance. As with all events there will likely be a few people who can't make it to the event the day of, so please feel encouraged to come. We do prefer however you register in advance.

Registration on site starts at 10am, game 1 starts at 11am. Please bring 4 copies of your list, not hand written on a napkin or some such.
The cost is 15$ and will include the following:

Pizza Lunch

2 Sodas / beverages

GW Dice Cube (only this dice cube will be allowed to be used at the event, no custom dice)

While most of the prize support will be coming from Huzzah Hobbies (as per the norm for an RTT), we will have additional support from TriageTerrain ( http://www.triageterrain.com/ )for a raffle.

There will be three games played in a win-loss format; anyone who takes a loss will receive a raffle ticket with prizes drawn at the end of the event. So only people who have lost games will be eligible for the raffle.

The Nova Open has an award called Renaissance man. This is essentially the "Best Overall", which includes paint score. This will be the top prize at the event. Other players who go undefeated will also be scored in a similar fashion to fill out the remaining 2nd, 3rd, 4th positions ect. Note that while only a painted army can win Ren man, if you can go undefeated with an unpainted army you can still win the 2nd, 3rd, 4th positions ect. Just not the top prize.

In case it is not obvious, there will be prize support for those spots as well!

If the event fills to at least 20 individuals, the Ren man will be awarded a spot at the NOVA Open Invitational 2013 in addition to normal prize support.

Please check my blog at http://birdux.blogspot.com/ for more details or updates or post here. I guess the blog thing is only if you want the ramblings of a poor ork player. =0
