I can't see it on their website, only 2011-2012.
Is there a link to 2013 tournaments?

GW posted a while back that they discontinued their tournament support.

It would seem that means any and all support of any kind!
"If you don't play our game the way we like then we don't support you." May as well be a direct quote from Kirby. Cool story bro.

Besides the store based ones there is
Astronomi-con (astronomi-con.com) in the summer
Warmasters Challenge (warmasterschallenge.com) in September
Conquest (conquesttoronto.com) that runs two 40k events a year
I started running a cash tournament called Pro league that I plan on doing every 3 months, with the main one being a $1200 cash prize.

Or more correctly:
"If you want us to spend any money we dont support you"
its why GW is going with this "there can be only fun!" approach, it encourages stupid buys and non-critical thinking, but that is a story for another day.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

With the way the new products from GW have been lately, they're discouraging Tournaments even more by creating gak books that don't even offer competition unless its a beer and pretzel game and you enjoy getting your sh*t pushed in...
On topic, after a new GW opened up, I was informed by the manager there that there would be no support whatsoever for independent events and there will be no more GW events of the sort.
All of that is old news I'm afraid...

This made me laugh. It gives more incentive to buy altenative company models. Too bad there aren't many good ones but I guess that's what GW is banking on.

Now if the major non GW tournaments will just get on board with allowing miniatures from other companies, we can not only field better looking armies for cheaper money, but also tell GW to stick it....

Oh wow.....Was not aware of any of this. Just getting back into 40k from late in 5th (when GW did support tournaments).
That kind of sucks they dont support them anymore. Is it likely that a lot of major events could slowly start to diminish as well? Without any major backing or "advertising" it could be no more tournaments.....
Ravenous D do you have more information on this "pro league" you speak of? Where are you based out of? Toronto?

It makes sense for GW not to support tournaments.
#1: We don't need GW to support tournaments . With the series of tubes known as the intranets tournament players organize just fine without GW. BAO, Nova, and Adepticon are better than anything GW supported. DakkaDakka, Warseer, and other websites are better than White Dwarf for organizing and advertising tournaments.
#2 We're not going anywhere until we burn out or move on. Bad book writing, bad game balance, or a stale/stagnant meta is what drives tournament players away not lack of tournament support. See #1
#3 We're bad for business. Very few tournament players are douchebags, but a small # goes a long way. The remaining players fall into several categories, often more than 1 at.
A: Polite type A personalities, they are not mutually exclusive.
B: Driven to improve their skill by competing against the toughest opponents possible.
C: Bored of playing people below their skill level. Mentoring new and intermediate players has it's merits, but it's nothing like playing someone of equal or greater skill.
D: Painters, converters, and fluff bunnies. Sometimes they don't give a damn about winning, other times it distracts from the fact they are a ruthless and/or skilled player that's also A B or C.
A B & C playing at 100% will club new & intermediate players like they're baby seals. Most casual, new, and intermediate players don't want to get clubbed like that. Many veteran players will avoid the tournament scene because of a bad encounter with a douchebag. In short inviting competitive tournaments into their stores risks driving off some customers, while not supporting it will merely force players to organize tournaments in ways that have been working out well for GW so far.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

To answer your question Mafty:
No, Independent Events have done nothing but flourish under the new strategy that GW has implemented. Adepticon, NOVA, Bay Area Open and other such events have seen record number of attendees with a steady rise in attendance each year. I think you'll find plenty of events to go to with more than enough prize support being privately provided.

Also GW keeping their heads out of the tournament scene opens up allot more options given that you can get away with a percentage of non GW models at most tournaments.
