So I'm starting a new army for the new year, and have opted for a Forge World Heresy era Death Guard army. I'm a lazy painter, and hoping that starting this blog will help motivate me to keep some momentum on getting things painted. Also, I'm not looking to win any prizes for painting, just a force that looks good on the table, but (constructive) criticisms, suggestions and comments are always welcome!

So the first test model has turned out like this:

That looks awesome, very crisp and clean (how THATS gonna change!)

I look forwards to seeing the rest!

Yeah I agree with ghpoobah, the colours are very sharp, so the only advice I can give is to dirty it up a little, which I know will be a killer with such nice models, but I'm pretty sure dirt is part of the DG colour scheme and ranking system now.

He could do with some Dirt, but otherwise, he's a very solid piece!

Thanks guys, I agree he needs some dirt/ battle damage/ weathering but not sure what to do. I may paint up a couple of cheap plastic marines to practice on. In the meantime, I'll keep with the clean look, and first 5 man squad is done now done.

Don't want to give much sugestions as I'm an amateur and what you did here is great but maybe a thing that I tried for my heresy DG that I plan to build when time comes...

do a dark gray / silver / rust basecoat, then hairspray and on top of this make your scheme and then chip it with toothpipck et voilá battledamage for whole army without messing for hours with every little spot to paint it on the armor.

Here's result before making green shoulders etc... jsut base off white armor.

Cheers for the suggestions. For now I'm going to keep the clean look until I at least have a reasonably painted force for the table top, and then worry about a bit of weathering and battle damage. For now, here's the second half of the squad and the drop pod to go with them.
