I've been chronicling my progress over on my blog (http://rayofpaintstudios.blogspot.com/) but I am really excited with the end result of my first huge model. I always refused to do anything with large surfaces (both personally and for pay) because the frustration involved in getting it smooth was never worth to me. But now that I no longer need to spend 1/2 my work time getting an even base coat, I think I've found an all new depth to my love for painting!

So here's the finished model. The base isn't ready to be finished until I get a piece in the mail, but I'm so thrilled to look at this and know that such a big piece gave me almost no trouble. Seriously guys, if you paint regularly and hate basecoating, an airbrush is a worthwhile $2-300 investment. Heck, I'm already looking at something with a finer spray so I can do some better detail work!

And because this has just been a day of excitement, I'm also doing a small giveaway sometime next week! http://rayofpaintstudios.blogspot.com/2013/01/whats-kraken.html

-I'm doing a giveaway every month! Check out the details here, then like my Facebook page to get daily blog content!
