So in furthering a long standing discussion (see disagreement) with a friend, I've decided to ask the internet, where do Space Wolves fall in the power spectrum of sixth edition? Simple enough, he seems to think that Space Wolves are an extremely overpowered codex, based on the cost of Grey Hunters and Long Fangs vs. their abilities compared to other marine chapters. In fact, in a power ranking, he has listed only necrons and deamons as having stronger codicies. I disagree, but I was wondering if others felt the same way.

I'd put SW up there. IG and Crons probably still better. GK when played well are just below SW. Daemons have one strong (AKA stupid) WD build, CSM are underrated and still good.

Right now

1) Crons
2) IG
3) DA
4) SW
5) GK
6) CSM
7) WD Daemons
8) Orks
9) BA
10) DE
11) SM
12) Nids
13) Tau
14) Eldar
15) BT
16) Sob

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I see 1-5 being very close, 8-10 being close, 13-16 being all debatable in ranking.

Even Orks, BA, and Nids can take a local tourney or GT every now and then in 6th. No one owns the 6th edition muenster cheese title right now.

That above list is close enough, although obviously it's rather subjective.

Space Wolves are a top tier army. Over-powered? I don't think so, however they are very competitive.

(Although when compared to C:SM, they sure look OP with the GH pricing).

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

People allways moan about the long fangs more than anything, but the way i see it is that you cant take normal bods to take the wounds like you can in marine codices so the trade off is the split fire and extra heavy weapon - less survivable but more damage potential

On their own i'd agree with Lob's list, combined with allies such as IG they could come top though.

The major weakness solo SW have at the moment is we lack a flyer and cant take skyfire going just off the codex, not an issue for home play where chapter approved stuff and forge world is allowed but its a downside in a tournament i'd imagine.
