So here's the longwinded deal behind the idea. Originally, I started seriously thinking about a Deathwing army that I would use as a counts-as "Ultramarines 1st Company" in their Terminator armor. I planned on getting a Dark Vengeance squad and a Black Reach squad for the main bulk, because they are so affordable. I can easily dremel off the Dark Angels iconography from the DV termi's right shoulders, to be replaced with Ultramarines transfers.

Then I planned on getting a DW Command Squad box, to build a third squad of normal terminators, with one of the spare heavy weapons going to the Black Reach terminators, with other bitz spread across the box squad and the DV squad. All this would give me a good chunk of Terminators for quite a reasonable price, with the only small gripe of mine being the small Deathwing icons on the models, but I can ignore most of those.

But then I suddenly remembered, that stupid me - I have Space Hulk 3rd ed! Just in there is two squads of five and a Librarian to add to the army, and it's already paid for. Unfortunately, they have obvious Blood Angel details, in great quantity. It would be a major undertaking to convert all that detail. But then I got thinking.....what if I leave all the blood drops and chalices alone, and incorporate those with the Deathwing sword motif to make a unique Chapter's veteran company?

The basic fluff outline:

This Chapter (yet to be named) is based and drawn from a feudal planet (much like Caliban was) and the people there hold a tradition where a man came from the stars thousands of years ago and united the people against the monsters of the wilderness. Holding with the irony of 40K, he was probably just a quirky Rogue Trader finding a playground of a backwater world that was out of the sight of the Imperium, and something evidently made him decide to stay and use his knowledge of more advanced technologies to build a better world (maybe along the lines of the movie "Outlander").

In modern times, the Chapter exists as a fighting force in the style of literal "Knights" that follow the teachings of an Order of Knights that were originally formed by the Rogue Trader to lead his forces to united the human nations.

The Sword and wings of the Deathwing Icon on the terminators would mark them out as the Elite Cadre of these "Knights". The blood drops and Chalices of the Blood Angels terminators would stem from the fact that I will be using Sergeant Lorenzo as my a counts-as Belial. In this Chapter, the Captains of each company are men who can trace their bloodlines back to that of the original Rogue Trader.

The two squads with Blood Angels iconography are known as the Blood-Kin, and are the elite cadre that forms each captain's command Squad. The chalice represents that their commander is the vessel of the holy blood of the man who united their world all those millenia ago.

I think the Blood Drops on the Librarian will represent that the Librarians of the Chapter are drawn from a Brotherhood that was originally formed and trained by several Psykers in the rogue trader's retinue who used their abilities to support his "Knights" during the time of unification.

That's about it so far. I'm not even sure which chapter they would be successors of.

Any opinions?

"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."

I would be fine with it. I wanted to do A deathwing army with half space wolves and half DA.
