Hey guys,
I've been thinkig about upgrading (re-modeling) a bunch of Wolf Guard Terminators for my Space WOlf army and I have a few questions.
Combi Melta vs Combi Plasma?
Axe vs sword?
Power Fist vs Wolfclaw?
Cyclone Missile Launcher vs Autocannon?
What's the ideal loadout for a 5 man group in a drop pod?
2x plasma + power axe, 2x melta + power axe, 1x autocannon + power fist

"What's the best power weapon?" If that's the question, Axes and maces in a good mix work well. Edit: Much better! I vote combi-plasma, it lets you deal with troops or light tanks. Although it depends on their role, if you want them popping tanks grab melta. Maces and Axes. Swords are niche, but a good mix of +2 str and ap2 will make them very good at dealing with anything. They can also threaten vehicles with str 5 and str 6, which swords can't do. Fist. The claw is too expensive for what it does imo. If it was still ap2 then it'd be awesome...but it's not. The heavy weapon depends on their role again. I'd go for the assault cannon, but it really depends on your meta and what you intend to do with them.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

Yeah, don't bet the farm all on one power weapon type, carry a mix.
Having done some math on it, the Axe and the Maul are the best 2 out there. The added wounding potential of the Maul actually makes up for it not bypassing saves as well as the sword. The Axe is ultimately more killy, but thinning the numbers and concussing the other guys before they get to attack the Axemen helps a lot.

I would have to agree, A mix of axes and maces could do some good. I prefer combi plasma as my grey hunters have enough melta guns to pop the transports. Hunters pop them then the wolf guard toast them. I include 1 chain fist dude and 1 guy with an assault cannon then there combi plasmas. For me I have a mix of swords and axes as I have no mauls to give them lol.

its definatly more than worth it to always magnetize your wolf guard so you can switch it up as need be. If you know your opponent is going to be dropping down some termi spam then AP2 will be amazing but without ruining your wallet you can have magnets and say you want a cheap termi WG squad leader for your GH just magnet back on your sword and storm bolter.

Yeah, I was considering doing just that. I just need to find some axes. I've got 6 or 7 power sword arms. I've also got 4 combi-meltas and 4 combi-plasmas, so I should be ready to magnetize at least 5 Wolf Guard.

If you're gonna run wolf claws, give your termie a claw and fist. You still get +1A, but you can choose between ap2 and ap3. Also, remember to replace your storm bolter with the power fist. It's 5 points cheaper, and the total cost is the same as two wolf claws! As for choosing just one, I prefer the claws. A STRONG abuse of the wording can get you rerolls on hits and wounds, as you choose rerolls to hit per wolf claw rules, while shred says you reroll to wound, not may reroll to wound.
Melta is good against tanks and paladins, but is a bit overkill on other things. Plasma gets you 2 shots at the same range, but no ID. Plus, gets hot isn't a big deal with 2+ armour saves!
Axe or sword is a toss up for me. If you play against a lot of termies, go with the axe. If not, go with the sword.
The assault cannon has the chance, I repeat chance, of penning AV 14, and puts out 4 shots that wound most things on a 2+, while the cyclone missile launcher is better for lighter vehicles and light infantry with better range. I'm running a CML in my outflanking GH squad and it's AWESOME, but the assault cannon does way better up close.

How are you going to run your termies more CC oriented or more shooty. If shooty I would suggest them in a drop pod and give them all combi plasma, I like the assault cannon so Ive got me one of those as well lol. But to keep my guys cheap I stick with 1 chainfist and the other 4 have 2 axes and 2 swords, thought about having claws instead of swords myself but its like another 5 or 10 pts on the expensive unit lol.

Why would you ever buy two wolf claws? The second is much more expensive than the first and only gives an extra attack. You're right that a power fist is a better match, but I don't think it's worth the cost over the stock storm bolter.

Wouldn't a Fist be better than an Axe since they are the same points?
Edit: never mine, I see what was meant now.
