I'd like to make a few battle reports and I need some tips. I was wondering, what do you look for in a battle report? What makes it interesting to read? What makes it exciting for you?

I'll bite.

Personally I like the format that Sining uses in the battle report threads.

Kinda like this:

Lists

Turn summaries

After Action Review (post game thoughts for ya'll civilian types)

For pictures, I personally prefer seeing end-state pics, so like right after deployment and end of player turns.

Yeah, I like I recap at the end of each players turn and an after action report. Also a recap of deployment. Also a overview of the board is always good.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Are there any big no no's that you don't want to see or read about?

If things get too bogged down by specifics (e.g. After checking for distance and finding it to be 7 inches, pStryker went on to make the roll and got a 2, 4, and 6, which was enough to hit and allowed him to roll for damage of .... blah, blah, blah), I tend to lose interest, as I'm sure the majority of people reading that example did. I just like to see a breakdown of how things ended up going for major actions in a round, not necessarily the specifics of how they got to that endpoint. Unless of course something really out of the ordinary happens, in which case I think it's fine to throw that in.

Would you want a "general's perspective" of what strategy I'm putting forth and what I see them doing?

Absolutely. That's pretty much the main thing I go for in a battle report. I don't know how others feel, but that's largely why I check them out.
