I'm thinking about starting up a CSM force based on what I have from Dark Vengence (the whiol CSM side of the army so General, Cultists, Hellbrute and Chosen) but I don't own codex.

So I know I need to pick it up and I also like the Heldrake (it reminds me of the flyers from the John Carter film and I must be one of the five people alive who liked that film). So those two items total £70ish and I've been offered the following bundle for £110. It includes:

- Codex (need it)
- Heldrake (want it)
- Forgefiend/Maulerfiend
- Raptors/Warp Talons box
- Aspiring champ

I'm pretty sure it's the GW starter bundle when CSM were first released but at a discount. So I'm wondering whether all of this would make a decent list and how to assemble the multi-choice kits. I also own a Khorne guy sitting on a Juggernaut (can he still be used) and a Moria Balrog which I'll use a daemon prince.

Thanks

I would say go for it.

For 110 pounds its a pretty good deal. The Helldrake is probably the best unit in the chaos codex and the Mauler/Forge Fiend kits are quiet good as well. Raptors and warp talons both aren't great (the concensus is that bikes are a better value for their price than Raptors and Warp Talons are slightly over costed) but they are still good enough to play. The only thing I forsee being problematic is that you are light on troops choices since cultists die to a stiff breeze, particularly if you are only taking them in squads of 10. Look at picking up a box of Chaos Space Marines to give you a more durable scoring unit.

Yeah, I'd get it, it gives you 2 fast attacks and a HS, you will still need more troops but aside from that you should be fine and its a great deal for what youre getting

With the new FAQ, the Heldrake is an absolute monster, as the Baleflamer can be considered a turret weapon and its S7 Vector Strike is now AP3. You should always take at least one.
Raptors are cool support, but if you can get some Nurgle Bikers, you probably won't miss them.
The Forgefiend is pretty awesome, not gunna lie.
Overall, that seems like a pretty good deal. You'd still need to pick up some basic Traitor Marines (unless you already have them), but other than that it's a really good way to start out.

And yeah, the Khorne guy on a Juggernaut can still be used.

I went ahead and picked up this bundle plus a new Chaos Space Marine battleforce all for £150.

So my question, what's the best way of equiping the dual kits?

My only definite is that I'm going with Warp talons. I jst really like the look and idea of them (regardless of how they play)
