VV may be exspensive but can be of viable use, here's why:

Distraction fo shooting units e.g. Dev squads infantry platoons anything that has a lot of dakka or sits back.
Can hold up a shooty units in CC for a turn possibly wipe them out.
Support for other units.

Cons:
Exspensive base points
Can get wiped out in a turn of shooting without earning their points back

Not sure why you made a second thread for this kinda topic but OK...

You missed the other obvious one - because they can assault the turn they deepstrike you can assault vehicles. A unit of 5 with meltabombs and boom goes your landraider.
