Subject: Jump-Pack Librarian Help

Long-Range Ultramarine Land Speeder Pilot

So I play C:SM and I was thinking about throwing a Jumppack on one of my librarians. My question would then be what do I do with him? He's too easy to kill for me to throw him into a group of baddies somewhere. So i figure I need to attach him to a group, but with a jumpack he seems limited to a group of assault marines. So if i put him into a group of 10 assault marines, is he better than a chaplain?
I was thinking maybe with GoI, it might be nice to be able to warp a group of 10 CC units into the flank of something soft.
Am I missing something? Has anybody used him effectively that can shed some light?

Firstly, why are you so desperate to put a Jump Pack on a librarian if you can't even think of a way to use it?
Secondly, he's not limited to assault marines, deep striking TH, SS terminators would be great if you give him null zone. But in that case, you might as well spend the points on the far superior terminator armor, deepstrike, 2+ 5++ rather than just deep strike. It's not like C: SM librarians have poor movement anyway, you can give him gate of infinity which is better than a jump pack.

Star Trek taught me so much. Like, how you should accept people, whether they be black, white, Klingon or even female...

I'm not DESPERATE to throw a jp on my librarian, but I already have a foot librarian, and I like the way it looks, so I put one on one of them. I am aware of how to make my foot libby function, but that's not what I'm asking.
Since I don't really see the use of one, but its in the armory, I was asking if anybody has found a decent use for one.

This link is a discussion I had awhile ago (pre 6th ed). It kinda dabbles into a build with a librarian. Hope it helps but I don't think it will answer all your questions.

He could deepstrike with Termis but the Termi Armor on the Libby is actually pretty useful as he does not have access to Art. Arm. or comes with an inv save, so you normally invest the points for TDA and SS.
If you get a Jumppack it's for the movement, so here is a scenario where it could be useful to have it: If you run a Gunline keep him in the center so if you get assaulted he can join the cc and try to help out but normally you would want to fail your Ld-check as fast as possible so even then he's not that great.
You could still run him with Avenger in a small Assault Squad with Flamers and drop templates.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too! |

That's an interesting idea Shadox. I was kinda thinking that, since I tend to run a gunline anyways, that might be worth a shot. 3 flamer templates seems pretty nice.
Is it worth giving him GoI on an assault squad? Not sure what setup would be best, smite/avenger, nullzone/avenger, GOI/avenger.
Admittedly there are better options, but I like jump-packs, and my gunline is missing a counter charge, so maybe a 10man assault squad with libby isnt a bad shot?

Ally blood angels, use the Libby from their HQ slot (it's ok-- all librarians wear blue armor). Put him with a *scoring* assault squad, that has 1-in-6 chance of having fearless. Give them a couple flamers if you like -- they only scatter 1d6 when deep striking, after all. Finally, take shield and fear as psychic powers but you always have the option to roll divination powers (which codex marines cannot access) for some REALLY good powers. My advice, anyhow.
