Been thinking about picking up the FFG Gears of War Boardgame now for a little while and wondered what peoples opinions on it were. I Know its an 'against the board' format but has anyone played it? Would they recommend it? I dont really want to drop45-50 quid on it if it will only be played once or twice.

I mean i could get the White Council for that......

I think it's pretty fun. It certainly Feels a lot like the gears video Game, which is a good thing IMO. The minis are pretty high quality too.

I've won about twice. You get your ass kicked the first few times that's for sure. My first game I was able to get almost through my objectives but I got swarmed by sme grubs because I failed to close a e-hole.

We've played, I think, 9 games and won 3 of them.

It is difficult, but does reward good teamwork.

Good game, well worth picking up.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

It's pretty brutal. I don't think we've won a single game so far and we've played around five, I think. It puts a lot of pressure on acting together like a team.
That said it is enjoyable, there are plenty of missions, a bunch of different enemies and weapons. I'd recommend it.
