Hey guys,

Just a ccouple of quick question really;
Do the GW paints work well through an airbrush?
How do they spray and do they give good coverage?
I'm asking as i already have GW paints but maybe there would be something better for airbrushing?

Yes, any and all paint will spray through an airbrush.

They spray fine, if you thin them correctly. Coverage depends on how far you reduce them.

There are brands specifically formulated to be pre-thinned for your airbrush, Vallejo Model Air and Badger Miniature, but it isn't a case of 'better' as such. They are more convenient in some ways, but don't have exact matches to the GW colour line.

Cheers, I've done spraying with cellulose paints on various projects using a spray gun. But never used an airbrush or sprayed with acrylics. So i guess time to start practicing.

Yes, you can use them.

However, you can build a house by hand too....



Nothing, I say nothing beats airbrush paints.
If you are good at consistently mixing/thinning paints, use them.

However, once I started to use actual airbrush paints, I never went back unless i could not find the color I wanted.

I like;
Vallejo model air
Testors aztek airbrush
golden brand artist quality airbrush paints (amazing)
createx (might have to thin slightly in a .21mm or smaller needle).

Createx paints exclusively cure under heat (around 160c) so are not suitable for painting miniatures with - unless you plan on melting your space marines after painting them.

Thanks again. I'll give the Vallejo a go first I think. They seem the reasonably priced and most widely available.

Well, this is true if you use the automotive spray paints (I think they are under the "wicked" range).

However, createx ALSO makes a hobby line, its in smaller bottles, and you get it at craft and hobby stores.
It sprays and cures just fine, I use it ALL THE TIME. It can be a bit temperamental with my high end (i.e. very small needle .21 mm) brush, but overall decent stuff with amazing pigment density.

Still, my favorites are the vallejo model air, and the "golden" brand art airbursh paints.

Do you mean these?:

I spray Delta Ceramcoat paints. I'd say go for a 50/50 mix of paint/thinner if you are spraying regular acrylics and not thinned down stuff.

Mate good thinner for paints here in the uk is windolene the blue 1 cheap as chips and last for ages used it on all my models
