I recently picked up a Vendetta (actually two, thank you GW quality assurance team) and was thinking about painting the cockpit canopy to mimic polarized (I think that is what causes the effect) glass, like the effect you see on cheap sunglasses where the color of the glass changes depending on the angle of the light. Any ideas or experience with type of effect.

cheap sunglasses are probably just plastic sprayed with some kind of coating.... i dont know idf you can find out what it is and it is most likely only sold in large industrial quantities..... where i think you could go however is looking at automobile glass tint... they sell it in sheets and is more or less readily obtainable to the average person. however it will most likely not have a very "shiny" quality to it

I got a similar effect with a bright metallic colour like vallejo aluminium followed by tinting with a GW wash. it maybe not exactly right but close.

I airbrush metallic paint in a very thin coat on the INSIDE of the plastic for that EXACT effect.

Practice on some clear plastic first, to see if you like it.

While an airbrush and vallejo metallics or allclad II work best, give a few paints a try, and see how you like it.

if you don't have an airbrush, try a silver wash on the inside.

You could go for a standard NMM style to give the effect of high reflectivity without the colour actually changing.
