Somewhere... Out there...

Greetings,

I was recently digging through my old issues of White Dwarf, looking for articles on the Tau, as I am contemplating starting an army.

I saw the picture of the Tau on the front cover of WD 318 and was taken by the colorations of the Tau. I tried to determine if the coloration belonged to a specific Sept or not.

It appears to be white armor over a scab-red jumpsuit. I thought it looked pretty cool and I might use it for my forces.

Any ideas?

This?

Apparently it's a Vior'la colour variation.

Not necessarily, it's just the camo scheme of that planet. Each Tau army changes their camo scheme according to the color of their battle ground. This campaign took place on a snow planet (white) with red painted buildings (red).

Well.. If that is true.. You can make almost make any paint scheme for a Tau army. I wanted to start a new army and Tau are on the top of my list. I'll have to give this some more thought.

Well, you could apply this to any camo scheme on any army:
-Cadians could have a snow camo, or desert camo
BUT- they always have their insignia.

And this ^ is the most important part. A tau army will always have their Sept markings: white for T'au sept (kind of like a province, may have various planets inside), red for Vior'la etc.
