I chanced upon a video of an artist's work, Olivier de Sagazan, who uses clay and paint to transform himself into some hideous incarnations during this freak-out performance:

While fascinating/disturbing on its own for its artistic merits, it made me think of a Chaos-inspired mutation. Any one of the 'modes' that this guy creates could make an awesome miniature, some primal nastiness, hence my posting this in painting/modeling. I doubt the guy's ever heard of 40K but I respect the work for it's visual ghastliness. Kind of like a David Cronenberg-type thing.

I may actually try to sculpt out a few figs based on this random scary-face-mask type theme.

My first thought

I loved this performace! I actually used this as an inspiration for a creature that shifted image in a short film I shot. It was lots of fun to do the makeup for something like thos.

It also reminded me of the Chris Cunningham music videos, stuff like Aphex Twin and his weird little movie 'Rubber Johnny.' It's not quite Nurgle but it's not so far detached from the goopy, sculptural, piled-on nature of the thing. There are some pretty cool artists out there who are doing things that visually relate to the 40K world on many levels.
