So I’ve been playing all drop pod wolves since 5th, I got beat a lot in that edition, mainly cause of people reserving their army, mech list and trying to find the right combination to field. Well before i went on deployment, I finally found what was working for me, so at the end of 5th I started winning. Now in 6th SW drop pod are really the way to go, at least if you want to keep it pure SW. I’ve only lost once so far, and it was to a chaos/guard tournament list. It was pretty meched up, one vendetta, 2 helldrakes, and but they didn’t give me problems, it was his OP chaos lord/sorcerer/champion/bike unit! And it was the fact that the power he was using kept me from doing anything! Flyers are a problem, but with pods I’m in your face to fast so it doesn’t bother me too much, other than the hellbrake. So that leaves me with daemons. How do i beat them? I haven’t played against them in 6th, but I know what they can do. I know someone is going to bring them next tournament, any suggestions? Tactics? thanks!

Unfortunetly delivering your signature whollop punch T1 hinges so much more on a die roll for first turn against daemons because they can have nothing on the field if they force you to go first. You'll just drop pod in victims more or less. Do make sure you keep in mind that your both tring to do the same thing. Drop pod in remove as many models/valuable models as you can before they can do anything to you.

I need to return some video tapes.

Depending on whether or not the Deamon list is competitive you might have a chance if they drop before you. If they drop after you, you are almost guaranteed to loose.

The amount of absurd power the updated list has gotten is mind-boggling.

I tried my hardest to find any list that could actually hurt a well designed list based on Screamers and Flamers of Tzeentch backed by Fateweaver, but other than going Flyer and just letting your ground troops die and hoping to claim something on the last turn I don't see any way to not get tabled.

I'm not too familiar with deamons, but could you simply set up a firing line and let half your pods drop empty on first turn if you have to go first?

From what I understand Deamons deep strike like anyone else unless an icon is nearby, so there will be some scatter, but if you spread out well, you should be able to mitigate some of this.

Then on your next few turn use the remaining drop pods with troops in them to harass the enemy's backfield units?

The only other thing I can think of is to bring a few extra pods in your list so that you have something to drop empty without the sacrifice, but that would hurt points wise.

thanks for the feedback! the only tactic i could think was similar to Dutchsage, just put my guys in the table and then drop empty pods in front of me to block them and get a couple rounds of shooting off. Other then that i dont know?

You played pods in 5th and do not know how to counter daemons? Just castle up in a corner and se him go all over the place.

BTW: what are your list?
