So, how are people running their Tervigons?

Crushing Claws are expensive, putting my Tervigons (running two at 1500) at 235 each, but said claws give me between 4-7 attacks depending on what I'm doing, or 4-6 attacks if I plan to Smash, which on a Monstrous Creature that does so much else isn't half bad (and overcomes their lacklustre WS somewhat). On the downside, Tervigons are a high priority target, so there is a significant chance that they will be blown away before they can properly engage, wasting the investment.

Scything Talons are a much cheaper option, and work to counter the poor WS in another way. There's not much else to be said for them though.

Running with just basic teeth and claws keeps the Tervigon cheap (indeed, two with just teeth and claws, rather than Crushing Claws, saves 50 points and grabs another 10 Termagants). Since Tervigons fulfil so many other functions (churning out Termagants, spamming psychic powers, buffing Termagants and claiming objectives) and may never actually see front line combat, it seems sensible to save the points on an expensive close combat upgrade that may never get used.

So, what are you guys running, and have you ever considered the alternatives?

I've run the Crushing Claws on them, haven't used them yet but I like having them there. It makes them be not-pushovers in CC, as it is now marines can tangle with them pretty well, but with crushing claws they become a lot more menacing.

I'm not sure on spamming psychic powers. Last game I got 2, 4 and 6 on Biomancy, so my Tervi just sat behind a wall doing nothing. I would consider saving 15 points each on them and just taking Catalyst, FNP is what they really need to have, and Dominion can be really useful, plus you only bust 1 psychic power per turn anyways.

It depends a little on how you run them. If you sit them at the back as an objective holder that's not going to really be offensive there's no use spending points on the claws.

I personally run them with the crushing claws and try to move them up the board, for objectives further up as well as a fighting presence.
