So this is my first stab at DKoK. I was removing this fellow from his sprue and he ultimately lost his foot in the process. First time handling resin, a newb is a newb right?

Anyways I thought I would put him to some use(until I can rejoin his foot) as a test base for picking out a good DKoK scheme. I find while the DKoK are very cool looking, they are very depressing to paint and if I want to make an army out of these guy I want a scheme thats endearing, yet still very much Death Korps.

So here it is. Keep in mind I literally slapped this togetther and it by no means is meant to shock you with detail, I just want some feedback on the scheme itself.

Poor guy - first you lop off his foot, then you use him as a guinea pig! Abuses aside, I think that scheme will work quite nicely.

The blue-grays bring just a touch of color without departing too far from the drabness that the WWI inspiration lends itself to. The steel details are distinct from, but match well with, the blue-grays. Finally, the cream accent provides a bit of contrast, while the overall dirtying keeps them from being overly stark.
