Subject: Best way to use Sammael in a deathraven army?

Hey all, Nester here.
I've been doing a lot of reading on Sammael, and I can't seem to figure out the best way to play him.
I can see the advantages of placing him in a squad of bikers (granting them skilled rider). as well as him solo (just jumping all over the map, taking advantage of his plasma cannon range).
what do you guys think is the best way to play him in a deathraven army?
Thanks,
-Nesteruk

I like him in a scoring attack squadron. In the last turn he breaks off on his own. He rides a JETBIKE which means he can move 12 and then turbo boost 24 inches in the shooting phase. Normal bikes just go 12 and then 12.
He can contest that OBJ that your other bike units just cant get too.
Skilled rider is just too good not to share, Black Knights already have it.

+1 I agree... put a Chappy or Libby with the BKs, Sammael will do great in a Attack Squad and he has the safety of another character with him.

ok, cool...thanks
I'll try running him with some bikes and see how it goes. Would it be worth having a darkshroud with them, or should that be kept close to the black knights?

I think its better to just take more damage dealing bikes than to include a Darkshroud.

I can definitly understand your thinking there-but the darkshroud next to some bikes (dark knights or regular bikes) will keep them alive, thus allowing them to shoot more, or keeping them safer while they move around. I think if you paired that up with jink, and the skilled rider (either from Sammael or from being black knights), it would add up to a nice save.

It does no doubt. Ive looked at the darkshroud and agree, they do help make your bikes tougher to kill.
The things that worry me most playing Ravenwing are Flamers of Tzeentch and Helldrakes. Both are super-fast and both bypass my cover saves. This puts me at a tactical disadvantage when playing against these armies. For example, most other armies wont be as fast as me, allowing me to dictate when a decisive shooting phase or CC will happen.
Dark Eldar are faster but dont normally bring lots of cover-bypasssing weapons, same with Eldar. This allows me to use the basic combinations of jink, skilled rider and flat out which I think gives me the advantage I need.
Adding a Darkshroud here just makes me win-more.
The weak match up against Helldrakes and Flamers, the Darkshroud wont help much either as their weapons bypass my disgusting cover save bonuses. The thing that would is bringing more bikes.
To get the 2+ save I would need to go flat out and not shoot. With this list I want to be shooting within the distance of a Banner of Devastation as often as i possibly can. The quicker I can get your model count down, the more likely I can win. At 2000 points, a Ravenwing army can have upwards of 15 to 18 scoring highly mobile and tough troop units.
