I have put together around 5K of IG, and now I am looking for a Centerpiece to it all.

The question is what do I choose as the centerpiece for my Mech Army?

I ask that you explain why you made the choice you did! Thanks for the help all!

Actually, If you want to do a little converting, you could do the Stormhammer

I mean, it has TWO turrets with TWO barrels on each. That's awesome! It's my favorite baneblade variant by far. Sadly, there are no official rules for it, but it looks hecka cool!

That said, I'd go with the stormlord. That tank is the only tank that has a sufficient amount of dakka, in my opinion.

I also vote stormhammer.

The issue is that I also want to play it. There are no rules for the Stormhammer. Otherwise I would just field the Capitol Imperialis as my Centerpiece :p

Stormblade all the way!

The Plasmablastgun just looks awesome and as it's not in one of the Plastic-kits you get an even bigger wtf-bonus.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

Baneblade.

It's the single most classic, iconic Imperial Guard vehicle on record, moreso even than the ubiquitous Leman Russ.

In terms of gameplay value, the Shawdowsword is quite nasty, St D is always unkind, especially since it can be BS4, but it's not as iconic a tank.

That being said, the Baneblade is no slouch; over the weekend, had a small apoc game, and it claimed half a dozen vehicles, 50 or so infantry, Abaddon, 4 terminators and several friendly orks.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I am planning to have a Macharius or a Macharius Vulcan as my centrepiece eventually.

I voted for a Stormlord or a Hellhammer just becuase a Banebalde seems to be the one that everyone goes for - yes its a good tank but why not take something thats as good but a bit different.

You're running a Mech list.

You're looking for a centerpiece.

As folks say, go with God.

No, not that silly M2 Biblical "god".

I'm talkin' the only real god in M41.

I'd say go with the Eleven Barrels of Hell itself.

As said already, the baneblade is both iconic and very strong on the table.

Also, it looks really cool

The Seraphs of Thunder: a homebrew, almost entirely converted successor Deathwing. And also some Orks. And whatever else I have lying around.

The Crassus, as we determined in another read, lacks sufficient manlies for a centerpiece.

Now the Praetor wouldn't be a bad, unconventional centerpiece, or the Valdor Tank Hunter, which is an amusing superheavy, if not super-powerful like some of the other options, if you're looking for more esoteric options.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Important word in the Craussus name that prevents it from really being a centrepiece - TRANSPORT.

All depends on how big a centrepiece you want though - you could always have something smaller like a Macaldor as a centrepiece thats retained by your army for some fluff reason or something bigger like a Baneblade for more obvious reasons.

Have a lot of guns on it. Also understand that it isn't actually going to shoot anything. It's main role will be to take fire while everything else does all the work. This is an important thing to understand about Baneblades. The fire that they take still makes them worth it, as everything else fights with little resistance.

You might want to consider multiple Baneblades.

Voted Shadowsword, I love its dedicated anti Titan role, IG already have lots of good high str/AP weapons but this thing goes one step further.
And if you're going to play Apoc it will be a boon for sure.

You'll want to have multiples or hide it behind massive walls that are still low enough to see titans because it will likely have the same problem that Baneblades have.

If it's for a centrepiece it pretty much means one, as it isn't centrepieces OP was looking for

Lol I appreciate all the input gents! I went with the Baneblade. I am sure as my IG continues to grow I will branh out to other Super-Heavies, but for the moment the Centerpiece will be a Baneblade. I do look forward to more posts from all of you as to why other Super-Heavies would make a good choice.
