Hello. I am gluing together my bastion. It will be an icarus lascannon for a dark eldar army. I need to glue it because of modeling reasons.

I have glued the "firering slist" next to each other, facing north and west. However, I do not know what will be the best place to put the door?

Should I put it the way the firering slits are so that I can counter charge if anything threatening is coming or so that I can deploy "out of it" towards my oponent, or should I put the door on the back so that I can move out of it and claim an objective while using it to block line or sight..

Does the door go north or south?

Why don't you magnetise it?

I have added sand on top of the metal rims that mark each section representing old dust. However you can clearly se a gap between the sectipns when they are not glued together. I think magnets wpuød ppse a similar problem.

I'd place the door away from my opponent, you are probably only losing like 2.5" of closing the distance with your enemy.

I need to return some video tapes.

Just a bit of a subquestion if you dont mind me asking it. is it legal to make up a bastion of a couple of kits and face more than 1 HB "forwards" and to allow more space on the roof?

if this is not wanted here say so and i will happily remove it, its just a curiosity and this seemed like a decent place to ask.

The rulebook states bastions "usualy" have one in each direction. However, there is no good way to convert the bastion to look like having bolters in that direction. I thought about it. I would say it is not quite kosher but not illegal ether.

yeah i ask as i have seen where multiple kits are used to make the bastion essentially 2 wide 2 high...... thus you can have 4 HB forward and lots of slots for the up to 30 guys inside to shoot out of.... another drama really would be the size of its footprint on the gaming table.. also at 2 high it gives a very high position for the LOS shooting of the icarus or the quadgun.

I think the whole point of the bastion is that it is a fortress out in he middle of nowhere that can defend against threats from all directions equally. In the "real world" of 40K armies don always line up nicely across from one another. The bastion is designed more for Planetstrike where they're coming at you from all different directions witha turret on top for anti-air or extra support from one direction.

When I get some time I'm going to build some terrain that does what the bastion doesn't, allow all my Lootas to fire in the same direction while offering 4+ cover save. Plus it will be zero points.

I guess I'm trying to say in the nicest possible way that it sounds like you're trying to make the bastion into something it isn't designed to be. I'd recommend a Landing Pad for what it sounds like you want, I could be wrong though.

Keep in mind that you can never charge out of a building. So putting the door for countercharges is pretty pointless.

Aha McGibs. That is good to know.

I gues it depends on what I have in the building. Wracks that can move 6" (disembarking?) and use a 8,5" flamer has 14,5 threat range. Although I am not shure why I would have 5 wracks manning the heavy bolters, I could have uptoo 3 fiering slits and 1 heavy bolter on two of the sides. (1 slit on the lover part and two on the middel part as well as the bolter) that woould give the bolter and the slits the abilaty for 7 people to shoot.

I am thinking about having wracks manning the lascannon at the top though.
